Hello, Well i am trying to implement a link wheel. After extensive research on the subject on many forums and articles, I have finally finished my first link wheel. I just wanted to make a post to help others organize there wheels and see how it helps. I will explain my process here as much detail as possible. Today i just implemented it and after looking at many diagrams i was not pleased. I put my own twist into it with links pointing in different places and something hopefully google cannot pick up. if you are trying to implement a wheel mix it up so so much so google cannot follow it perfectly. Google is smart and cant be beat but a normal link wheel is very catchable. The steps I did were simple. I made blogs/sites on these platforms: Blogger Wordpress Xanga Wetpain Weebly Webs VOX LiveJournal and a few others which are the twist of my link wheel which i cannot share . As you can see there are a lot. In total i have 10 SPOKES or as they say it in the SEO world. Another main thing is that NEVER EVER close your link wheel. If a wheel is a circle, we dont want it, we want HORSESHOE. This is the best method to practice. Also it doesnt have to all be website platforms like Xanga and Blogger. Mix it up put different things where you can put a anchor text with a link on it. I tried to keep the outbound links by me to a minimum of 2 on each site. This will maximize results. I used some web 2.0 that didnt even link to my money site, this is another trick (i beleive) to break the link wheel effectively. After i created accounts, it is requierd to pick domain names. A couple dont allow domain names and just use the username. I just picked a random username for this. The ones that did , i picked a keyword that i was not specificall targetting for this link wheel but it incorporated my keyword in it as well. Also a article is need, i got one that 500 words and rewrote it many times. This allowed for fresh content on all the sites. After interlinking each site, i was done! This was all in one day of creating the sites. Now using OnlyWire bookmarker, i BMd only 5 sites and there posts for now. This will take time as it goes because google will need to index these sites. Also i pinged every single site to speed up the process. This was a lengthy article, I know that lol. But hopefully it clears up some concerns. I will keep it update with different info and concerns. Great start. But by no means are you even close to done. In order for the link from your spokes to actually provide any SEO benefit at all, you'll need to optimize them, and build backlinks to them. Once you've built up some significant backlinks and hence pagerank, *then* the links to your main site will provide you with some SEO benefit. By themselves, without any promotion at all, the links from your link wheel will be mostly useless.
I'm not a link wheel fan...I do currently have articles on 15 web 2.0 properties pointing back to a couple websites...however, I do not interlink the props themself. I believe G gets a little funny about that.
building web 2.0 pages, posting article and getting backlinks is a great idea. i covered that on my Web 2.0 Link Building article. however, i dont suggest a typical linkwheel that conntect each page together. its just a matter of time when google finds out the corelation and considers that as a link network. my advice is to build the pages and just link to your main site / landing page and not interlink all the pages
no no you must interlink BUT not in a pattern, make it a jungle out there. And have some that dont interlink at all. This will be your best bet.
