Highly Priced Sales >10k - Reversed

    Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with merchants reversing commissions from highly priced commission sales? I had a sale of $10,000...commissions were about $600. I had two additional sales from the same merchant that day for $800 and $600. The 10k sale was reversed 3 days later for "return of merchandise". It seems so easy for them to take that money back because I really have no way of validating if that merchandise was actually returned or not and CJ has no way of validating. I contacted both the merchant and cj and they're both saying "return of merchandise" and that's the end of that. If I take this any further, the merchant will probably drop me.

Anyone have similar scenarios? We're you ever paid out from expensive sales?

    Thanks

I believe either CJ or CJ's merchants would never do fishy stuff as you explained. I might be wrong tough. What kind of product were you promoting?

It could be coincidental...but we'll never know, because the processing of sales and commissions are all done in the dark, publishers are unable to view anything.

That's a major weak point of a system like CJ's - it has to be based on trust, and unfortunately, unlike another poster above, I do not "believe either CJ or CJ's merchants would never do fishy stuff". I can WELL imagine a merchant (especially a small-time one) making a surprise big sale thanks to an affiliate and going, "Heck, we're not REALLY going to cut CJ, like $500 of our $1500 profit, are we?!" And I can't see any way round that. That's the risk with less-known merchants, I fear...

It's cost of doing business. If merchant says its returned there is no way of actually finding out what really happened. However if the merchant is repeatedly doing this they may be booted out of the network as CJ is also losing money in this case.

Well i am sure CJ keeps an eye on thier advertisers .. mostly they have to deposit some amount in advance.. and also if things like dis happen to certain advertisers a lot they may remove them

There are metrics for CJ to keep track of things. They are not going to let a advertiser take a large cut of their sales as returns. In accounting there are formulas to figure out industry averages for returns, I am sure CJ uses theses.

CJ is in business to make money. They are as anxious as you are to have sales final. If there is anything going on, it would have to be with the vendor and not CJ.
