cron job can shedule a job for you , for example you can run script on some time like daily, once in a month or weekly. for windows you have task scheduler , sorry, I dono about godaddy panel in linux you have following manners #minute, hour, day of month, month, day of week, command * * * * * command or script to execure for example run daily backup at midnight would be 0 0 * * * /path/to/backup.sh
Ive not been in godaddy so i cant give an exact solution but these might help: 1)is the file you want to run the cron for public? accessible to everyone? In this case its possible to run the cron job from a remote server. If this is the case PM me and ill set it up on my server for testing. 2)file is outside public_html You can ask tech if they have an option for cron. If not create a sym link[again im not really sure if the version of windows on your server supports it but i know windows 2000 did] and run that remotely
Login to godaddy, select Hosting and manage account. Select Content and Cron Manager / Create Cron Job If you don't see or have access to this, you need to upgrade to Deluxe hosting. Next step is pretty self explanatory: Give your cron job a name, select how often you need to run it, then click Browse and find the file you want to run through your already hosted files.
Hello, In fact, Windows doesn't have CronJobs. It has only Task Scheduler, which do the same jobs. You can read about it at http://www.iopus.com/guides/winscheduler.htm (the first url i found from google). You can also have a look at some online cron jobs service such as www.setcronjob.com, onlinecronjob.com, cronjobs.org, etc. They let you create cron jobs easily with a web based control panel.
