Earned $10 in 6 months of webmastering :(

    Hi,

I started February, because I wanted to get to know how "The Internet" is going. After a real need of some income I am near to closing today while searching for a "real" job. I have earned not even $10 for the almost 7 months.

I am still thinking whether to continue webmastering or go and get a job again. Sometimes I feel lonely only working online all the days. Sometimes I enjoy the real freedom this ocupation offers...

Please advise, my thoughts are close to an end...

Edit: Haven't mention I've spent like quite some $$$ on my webmastering... :(

At least you have persistance! I'd probably have started scratching my head earlier. Starting off from scratch in this industry is always going to be slow. Supplement with freelance work, a part time j.o.b. or buy a site that is a decent earner already.

you have to be self motivated and hard working at the start...internet businesses is exponential growth to highest extreme, first few months may make u a 1$, but after a year, u may make 1000$ a month

I had a job my first 3 or 4 years while I got things going on the web. YOu aren't going to just decide to start making money on the web and have it happen overnight.

    Hey buddy,
You just sound like me three years ago.
When I quited my job I wasnt established in Web business. I struggled for 6 months to get everything on track, living off my savings.

I was seriously thinking about getting the job again but then out of blue, I got an idea. I decided to try it and Bingo!! It worked... I didnt look back since then.

So my advice - Never Give up...

All you need is an idea to get you started. Take some time to think and come up with something. Write things down on a piece of paper. Eventually, a great idea will come to you.

    Hi folks,

the problem is I did not think of the money from the beginning... I just thought - I'll try to do what I like and I'll see... it's about 2 months since I have the income aspect in my mind - the $10 is from AdSense in that 2 months. I got a little local contract for about $500 yesterday, so I hope on the times to get better...

However, thanx for the great support guys!

Your business-linux-board.com does not seem to exist (I can't get to it from your link)

I don't see any ads on your Free-Scripts-Forum.org board - how are you making any money?

If I was in your situation Jan I would work out what you need to survive each month in the way of living, food and a few entertainment things and then get a part time job to cover it so you are not going down in to a negative balance paying for hosting fee's and food etc... Once you are happy there (hopefully just a couple of hours a day) then spend the rest of your day building up your sites.

the guys who commented earlier are being kind to you... i'm being honest - you must be doing something wrong... less than $10 for 7 months is just too little... you can get more than that by doing really newbie stuff like posting on forums or writing articles...

what is your website about? maybe you can share and people here can give you advice.

    Hi,

I run couple of sites, all of them were started as a hobby projects except the last one:

    StandyWorld.org, PR6
    StandyGames.com, PR4
    OpenBook Project, PR4

    Boards:
    Free Scripts Forum, PR3
    Business Linux Board, PR3
    Embedded Board, PR3

    The Smart Boy, PR0 yet

I guess I am just at the process of trying to monetize some of the sites' potential. I have too few pageviews on the whole portfolio to live from AdSense yet - and it's probably not to change soon. I see that AdSense optimizing was a thing I should have started with as seeing ads as the easiest source of income.

In these days I am trying to boost the first forum with some innitial posts. I plan to get various parts of the forum "sponsored" by various CMS projects too. I plan to sell few PR6 links from from the first site too. The two forums and the business site are still not even launched.

I am probably a too bad businessman yet. I gotta get better .

MattBeard: I was changing theme on the one forum and I am changing hosts for the other one.
daboss: It is actually $10 in 2 months. However I am not happy about the figure either :(.
I've been living off my savings all the months but it is not sustainable like that.

Have you done any SEO on the sites? I didn't look at all your sites but I looked at your forum..pr 3 and 13 members? The too little page view is probably because of people not being able to find you....where does your taffic come from?

    Hi,

not so far, I get targeted traffic only to the "review" pages (like "Joomal review" etc.) - but its only few. Tried AdWords on another site but did not succeeded so far and left it for now.

Do you have a free traffic recipe??? :D :D :D

Thanx! ;) What is the most convenient way to sell links? DP "Link sales" forum? I'd rather rent a link space than waste site space on permanent links...

Its totaly up to you whether you want to rent links or offer permalinks.
just go to link sales thread make a thread offering your link space there.
Better you look at the exsiting threads offering the same service first, that would give you some idea about pricing and all..
