I have read an ebook like a week ago about these so-called "link wheels." It's more like one link opens a certain site and again linked to another site and eventually goes back to the original site. Yes, it's like a wheel. lol. But I don't know if it's effective, I would like to try using it but I'm also thinking that I'll just waste my time on it. I need an expert advice.
If the link wheel consists of interlinking between your own sites then its a waste of time. Bigger link wheel is better. Get links from different sources such as articles submission sites, bookmarking sites, blogs, squidoo, hubs, etc
I never tried link wheel method I prefer to have a one way link only no strings attached. Hope you get my point.
I use the link wheel methode, and it´s effective. If you choose your keywords wisely, you can get more than one website on the first page of google. Here is a the Idea behind it: You link from one "Satelite" site(S1) (Article, Squidoo, Free Blog like blogger and so on) to your main Site(M) and to the next Satelite (S2) From S2 to S3 and Main From S3 to S4 and Main From S4 to S5 and Main From S5 to S6 and main From S6 to S1 and main I recommend to use at least 6 satelites, better more. This has the Following Result: Your main Website get linkjuice from all satelites Satelite 1 increases S2s linkpopularity, increases S3..Increases S4 and so on. Each backlink to one of the Satelites affects the complete wheele positive, increases your main site. Here some tips to make it more effective: 1. Don´t link back from your Main site to your satelites! 2. Bookmark each Satelite on several Social bookmarking sites (I use Onlywire.com), 3. Submit the RSS feeds of all satelites to as many RSS directories as possible This brings a lot backlinks to your Satelites and a few additional links to your main site (Try to insert a link to your Mainpage in the first 100 words of your content, so you have a chance for this link to appear in your RSS feed too) Hope this answes your question and helps you to rank even better. One word about the time: With a littlebit practise you need something about 1 to 2 hours for a linkwheel, but you need time to submitt 6 articles too and in fact there is only one additional link for each article, back to the previous article. A practical tip at the end: Build it backwards to save time. Start with S1, then S6 link back to S1, then S5 link back to S6 and so on. At the end you just have to add one link to S1 to S2
