Chancellor Alistair Darling has announced that from next April people making more than £100,000 a year will pay tax at 50% this makes Britain the highest taxing nation in Europe! Im a member of a few other forums and keep been told that every one is moving to Switzerland Darling already wants to start to tax 1p per pound on people that make over 20k a year i mean, WTF am i missing something here?

if you take more tax of the people who are pulling everyone else along aint they going to get tired and stop pulling and just move! I mean look how the uk system works atm(in my eyes). Tax the rich and give it to the people who are to lazy to work and blame it on a recession give it to them asbo moms with 20 asbo kids so they can go spend it on beer and spray paint your shop wall so it costs you even more money to fix. Lets take money out of the NHS and spend more on troops in a land far away so they can get shot and we can pay more money out in compensation.

any way whats your views on this?

Yep, pretty much sums it up. It's called socialism and I hate it with a passion. You shouldn't be penalised for being successful. You should be encouraged to work hard and support yourself and family.

Unfortunately Britain's in the shit. You probably realised that. The country has its highest level of debt since the Second World War, unemployment is rising, inflation is falling so people aren't spending.

It's dire, just as you'd expect with a financially incompetent Labour Government at the helm. I knew we were doomed when they took office on 5 May 1997. The country was screwed in the 70s under them - 20% unemployment, double figure inflation rates, public sector workers striking every week.

The only reason some people (mainly lazy and workshy people) hate Margaret Thatcher so much is because she had to be radical to stabilise the economy in the early 80s. Back then that meant gripping the trade unions by the bollocks - something the next Conservative Government is also going to have to do looking at the latest British Airways debacle. I mean who the fuck do Unite think they are to hold the nation to ransom by grounding flights over Christmas?

Darling doesn't have many options. We need to increase taxes and decrease spending, so he has to hit someone. He'd rather keep Labour's core voters on side by targeting the wealthy minority.

Whatever happens it'll be the Conservatives picking up the pieces for years to come. The next 5 or 6 years is not going to be pleasant for anyone.

but once the Conservatives pick up by doing what ever they are going to do every one is going to vote labour again :p i have always put my vote in the Conservative box but i really dont think i will be sticking around to get smashed with a huge tax increasement. It makes more sense for me at 50% tax to hire a tax lawyer and move my funds hell even if i spend on a tax lawyer its still going to be tax free so i wont be loosing any way!

i was having a think why the hell dont they just take it out of benefits so for every pound they give in benefits they take 1p out. The way i look at it is if your giving free money lazy dole scum will take it and not want to work if you cut it they only have two ways to look at it... Die or get a job simple and england is over populated any way so its win win :p

    It's a circle.

The Conservatives are voted in, reduce the debt and spending, help return the economy to normal and then are voted out. Labour come in, spend like theres no tomorrow and are voted out. Then back to the Conservatives.

We should cut out the huge spending on welfare. Why does someone who has worked for years, but was made redundant, thanks to labour, get less than a 19 year old single mum who hasn't worked once?
