my site is in the game niche.

is 0.49 % click through ratio average for this niche in adsense?

    seems very low to me.

    does anyone relate?

There is no way to know because Google does not make the information publicly available. Any "normal" is pure speculation.

That is very low I would say.... Minimum is 2% if you have well tweeted your site for Adsense.

what type of ads you are using ?

in game niche ad placements need to be good or else people may not click thinking its another game link

The niche is very much related to what CTR should be speculated as "normal". If you have a site about Adsense, the chances of the ads being clicked is very low.

about placement, I only have one large rectangle ads unit above the fold on the left side of my page. I would not consider any more ads because i do not want to clutter my page with ads everywhere. may that be the reason of low ctr, i mean not enough ads to be seen?

Yes, it is low. Try increasing the CTR by doing the following.

    > Ad placement - Place ads in hot spot of your website.
    > Color - Blend the color with the taste of your website.
    > Font - Blend them with the font of your website.

    > Test, test, test till you get the highest CTR possible.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah. It is below average. I think that $1 is an average normal CTR of adsense

That's horrible. I used to be the same way till a few changes in approach and placement. You should accept a minimum of 5% or make changes until you get that as a minimum.

This question is so funny. It's like asking if the size of your penis is too small.
Below WHAT average? What are you comparing to? You can't compare CTR. The current CTR is what it is, and it doesn't matter what it is. What matters is how you can get more people to click your ads (increase the CTR). And that question has been answered a thousands of times already so I suggest you to search.
