I'm a partner in a web design firm and we are going through a nice growth period. As sales grow it is harder to handle the work when I am busy dealing with the sales. I would like to ask for some general input on somebody who has gone through something similar and been able to setup a sales team. Our average sale is around $1,000. I'm thinking about hiring freelance sales rep(s) that would get 15-20% commission. That would be a nice income per sale I think. We get on average 5 new leads a day on top of the advertising that we randomly do. So 1 or 2 sales a day seems reasonable (currently we do an average of 4 a week). Also, I need ideas on how to handle leads that come in. We can build some sort of leads management software that handles requests from the site but what about customers that call in? Currently all calls go to my company cell. Any ideas/input would be greatly appreciated.
I would suggest that you offer a base pay, then a bonus % commission. For example minimum wage base pay, then 10-15% comm. The above model is assuming your sales reps are going to be telecommuting. With that in mind, you have understand that most virtual-based sales reps are highly skeptical, so the above model is a win-win for both parties. However, if you hire from your local area, you could definitely get away with sole % commission. Hope this helped some.
You can start by not asking in Digitalpoint. If you are a legal company than you probably have software for accounting such as quickbooks which has many functions such as preparing invoices and when sales come in you log it that way.
You're pretty brave if you hire someone that is not local. Before you know it your leads may turn into someone else's sales. At least if the person is local you can get your hands on them. You also want to remember that the sales person represents your company so be picky in who you hire. For call in leads you could hire someone part time to manage this. It should be someone that you trust. Or make it part of the salespersons job.
Agreed. In fact, I'd suggest making your family and friends your sales reps -- that is IF they are good at it Great points. Heed his advice!
Hire a local HS student or college student to sell locally. Or a nephew who's dedicated. You could rank for the local keywords within your area.
get someone in your area you know in person, or ask friends to recomend one for you,but be careful who you entrust your money to.these days people can change when they start seeing cash .
ask friends and family members for a good recomendation, also be careful, people change when the start seein money they havent seen before.tk
