    Wordpress!
    Easier to use, SEO friendly and widely used.
    Lot of themes and plugins (even free!).

    Both are good....
    Wp - for Blogs
    Joomla for content management (good to build membership sites and niche content sites)

    Personally I feel you can do a lot more with joomla

    if you want to create a site for a company, joomla is nice. because it's themes are better than wp themes.

    but wp is easier to use and i think google likes wp more than joomla.

    Wordpress was formerly used only for use in blogs, but today it is being used for various purposes, such as osCommerce, Pages Personal Portfolios of different features that wordpress provides. The Wordpress is in constant updates and the latest versions have been added some options to help with the installation of plugins and themes, everything is automated.
    Since Joomla is a system that has many more functions than Wordpress, because it is a CMS a little older, so far is a little more used to Wordpress, because many developers already have the facility to work with Joomla. In short, for the use of blogs, without a doubt the best option is the wordpress;

    Functionality wise, modules availability and stability between the two CMS. I'll go to Joomla, I agree to tr0yck for blog and others Wordpress CMS is also good. Also consider Drupal CMS to widen your options. Good luck to your choice.

    I have used both of them and found both of them similar but WP has much stronger security.

    I use both. I like the data management of Joomla so much better. You can organize content by almost anything. WordPress on the other hand is pretty limited to chronological order. WordPress makes it difficult to move posts around. You'll need to edit the template to remove date/time stamping. WordPress does not make it easy to Organize Categories or Posts. Joomla does all these things quickly and easily.

    However the main reason I use WordPress is it is easier to install and upgrade, easier to work with plugins. And Joomla Commenting is really poor... even the plugins for commenting are poor. I kept running into duplicate content problems because the Joomla Content was using session ids and driving Google Webmaster nuts.

    Having said that I have had little problem ranking sites with either platform.

    Personally I work with wordpress. Really doesn't matter what website I am building, wordpress is my CMS. I use wordpress for blogs, mini sites, landing pages, and video sites. There's nothing I can't do with wordpress. The SEO benefits of wordpress OMG. I love wordpress.

    No need to say anymore. :)
