Name for Cheque?

    If the name of the payee is for example Joe Smith, can Joe's brother John Smith accept the check?

    Basically can a family member accept the check for you?

    No he cannot. It must be under payee name. That is what I understand about bank rules. If this differs in your country, I really wouldnt know.

    what do mean exactly?can john deposit joe's check at the bank?
    joe signs the check and writes "pay to the order of john smith".
    john signs it and then deposits it.
