I see no way of tracking the results, since it's just your site url showing up in a text ad that the user would be typing in a browser later, so your stats would show up as having no referrer (type in traffic).

Well more a method of seeing in (near) realtime the number of sent texts with the ad. Otherwise its just blindly throwing money into something without knowing what is being sent. Also with Smartphones the links in SMS are clickable to open in browser directly, rather than manually typing and you can track mobile device traffic. I think it would probably be shown as direct traffic though.
Yes but how exactly are you testing? How can you see what happens when there is no conversion stats or evidence of messages being sent? Its like me saying that I'll text 800 people on my mobile with your website address... At least if there was some form of realtime tracker of messages sent updated every 24 hours or so, it might be more influential in my decision.
Simple. I'm doing it on a test site with no traffic. They tell me they did it, I check my traffic over a few days. If I see an increase, I use it again. If I get nothing, I'm done. Chance you take I guess!
I suppose that works if you're testing on a site with absolutely no traffic haha. If you want to test by launching a new site. Still doesnt give much insight into conversion (how many messages before you got that traffic?)

Apparently my ad was sent to 1300 people. I haven't received one Email regarding my ad. I find that hard to believe.
My campaign just started today and I've received 4 visits from it that I know of so far, as indicated by smsflick as the referral. Obviously this doesn't take into account any type-in traffic, but it does at least show that this is a legit service. Anyone else have any results to report??
