Hello all, I read here that Yahoo is becoming a good, though smaller alternative to google so I signed up, put $100 in , received $100 of free credits (maybe due to my buying domain names through them) and set up a "similar" campaign to one existing on google adwords. The differences:- 1.Traffic equal to 1% of googles. (I'll be a long time using up the money) 2. Interface not as good. Countries/target area selections very basic. 3. Set my time zone up, but a scheduled campaign ran on Pacific time instead. 4. Needs lots more features to catch up with google which is a pity.
I have a Southeast Asia account, but i need to target to visitors who come from USA and canada. Then i must open a sub-account. now my campaign hasn't run yet. Yahoo is so complex, i think
yep yahoo is too complex at moment. They even charge your account before your advertisement runs. And suppose you want to stop your advertisements then theres no option they still charge your card when balance in your account becomes low. I had to cancel my card to stop them from charging . However they do contact you over phone .
Ok, YES Yahoo has a lot less traffic... YES it's not as easy to use and Adwords... And YES Google kicks ass in terms of volume... But hey, it's another traffic source and it's something you should use if you're looking to get.... wait for it..... TRAFFIC... It's about maximizing traffic people! Oh and like globalim, I've actually found my ROI to be a little higher with Yahoo... I'm not sure why, but hey... I'm not complainin' James
I use google adwords. I'm thinking about Yahoo too but with the lower traffic volumes I don't know if it's worth my time or should I just forget about Yahoo and invest more time in Google?
I tried Yahoo, its not so good, 70% of the traffic that they will send you is from Domains that are parked, which did not make any sense... I would recommend Google
There are different kinds of users on Google and Yahoo, because of this, Yahoo can often be much better than Google. ROI's are generally better on Yahoo, while Google will remain the dominant traffic source... If you're willing to spend larger sums of money in return for smaller profits.
Google can bring traffic faster than yahoo, because of their big network. But next, yahoo will give better result for targeted traffic.
Google will definitely bring you more traffic, but you might get a better ROI with Yahoo, depending on your niche. The main reason I prefer Google over Yahoo, though, is the fact that Google has a desktop editor (AdWords Editor). It makes managing a Google account much easier, especially if you're dealing with a large account. I hate Yahoo's clunky user interface where you have to go through three or four screens and popups just to do something as simple as change a keyword bid.
Google is better quality traffic! You can lower your CPC by optimizing your campaigns (split testing ads to get best CTR) and optimize landing page with google guidelines. By providing the most relevant ad to the most relevent landing page you will see a drop in CPC and your ad will move up in position.
