See, a smarter move would be to wait, rebuild your reputation and then give a negative rep

Matt - the thread wasn't directed at you, but you've made it about you now.

Do a little searching of the DP forums .... everyone hates threads about rep and whining about rep - it's a little off-topic fun poking; take it personal if you choose, but it's for the DP members as a whole to let loose a little, not about you.

However, I will admit that your thread was inspirational ... thanks.

Maybe we should just start a running thread/list of not just the "rules" but also snippets of whiners' comments?

 

Perhaps we can add words like 'rep', 'reputation' and 'infractions' to the censor list and have it replaced by a "Move on, nothing to see here!" type image followed by 3 automated "Ahh Jezus, not this shit again!" posts and then an automated thread closure. It would achieve everything originally intended and saves everybody's time. And to make it even more realistic, we'll automatically bombard the thread starter with -20 rep as well.

Now THAT'S a suggestion!

However, I will state that when the rep system changed to "discount' some parts of DP a few months back, I was pleased and proud to see that mine moved very little because it was not all from GC. Some folks went from 11 pips down to 2 ...

No, I thought it'd be a little off-topic fun and hopefully new or junior members will get the message. Wish I'd seen a similar message when I first joined ...

Let's face it though, with a forum this large, people just aren't going to research it well before jumping in first feet though, there will always be:

• My 500th Post (shut up and do more)
• AdSense Payment in Progress (yeah, mine too, so what)
• Google is Dancing (when is it not)
• My Rankings Fell (it doesn't affect my site, I don't care)
• I Own MSN (Who can't)
• I'm #1 in Google (for a KW no one searches for)

So I was just blowing off a little steam after I was so inspired to see another ranting and raving today about the rep system.

 

Well, the title is similar to my thread, it was created after you posted in my thread, and on top of it all it just *seemed* to be aimed at me. I didn't realize it was so frowned upon here, I just thought it was a recent topic. I'm sorry about all this, really I am, but it seems like a problem nonetheless.

 

I should give you a red just for starting another rep related thread!

 

I wonder if you contribute anything positive (this forum ) here, I looked at your posts and all you do - well 90% of them are in politics and the other 10% in general chat

So then why did DP make a politics and general chat area? Hmmm????
