That's debatable. Intentionally misleading people (taqiyya) that islam = peace isn't the most honorable thing, but, we are infidels after all and it is acceptable.

1: Arabic is one of the most ancient languages
2: Words are derived from other words, which inturn become their root words.
3: The same word can have different synonymns.
4: The word ISLAM in the similar way is derived from the arabic word "Salaam" which means peace.
5: What you have mentioned is also not wrong, "PEACE" is what God(Allah) also demands from us.
6:"Submit to the will of ALLAH(GOD)"= ISLAM , is also correct, which inturn means living with peace.
