    Blog commenting can be a great way to get traffic to your site. Just make sure that the blog you're commenting on is related to your niche.

    If you are commenting on a website that is published on some blog comment list you'll likely be surronded by spam comments. Look for good ones in your niche.

    If you're looking to get a boost in traffic from a similar niche site then it doesn't matter whether the links are do follow. Sure, you'll get some PR juice if they are dofollow. But, if you can get yourself some quality comments on a heavy traffic blog - the traffic boost is good.

    I would say that comments are really good, because they don't only provide useful backlinks (if the blogs are do follow) but sometimes people actually click the link to your site too and then you get a visitor :D

    By writing tons of good quality comments you could get a lot of interested visitors and some of them will subscribe to your blog/buy your product.

    I still think they are a good thing. They show up as backlinks many times. Just don't over do it. Moderation is the key really.

    I too agree this, unless you are not spamming their blogs, it really good in two ways.

    1) if they allow backlinks you will get the traffic.
    2) They will get encouraged on having the discussion for their article.

    Write meaningful comments with a lot of your keywords. Use try get some of your keyword in the name, but in a smart way. Also, try to vary the keyword in your name as much as possible.

    Remember that blog commenting doesn't necessarily have a very good effect immediately:

    * Sometimes it takes a while before your comment get accepted
    * When it's accepted, Google will have to find it
    * The longer the link stay intact, the more juice.
