Backlink - Would These Kinds of Backlinks Help Imroving PR ?

Suppose I write some articles for site like Ezine or Articlebase and place my website link in those artciles. They get indexed and it shows in google search.

Now my question is that if these links be treated as backlinks? I have read that a few good links from high PR site are enough to improve your website's PR. Now EZA and AB both have a PR of 6 and 5 respectively. So, if i have backlinks from these sites, would it increase my PR in the next update ?

If not what kind of backlinks are we looking for ?

Yes, links from article directories help PR and your SERPS.

After a while, your article may have PR of its own. I've seen articles of mine that are 9 months or so have a PR of 3 by itself.

These types of links typically increase in effectiveness as time passes, although you'll get an initial boost when your article is listed on the article directories main page.

My experiences are it will not help you with PR but it will help you with SERP.
