    Hello,

I am going to launch a blog soon and I want to submit a press release. Have you heard of free-press-release.com? I was recently going through their paid features http://www.free-press-release.com/release-features.html. Do you think it is worth it? I was planning on doing the custom release for 30$.

Also which press release sites have brought you traffic? Have you gained links (from other than the PR site) due to your press release?

Which plan did you opt from PR web? What kind of links did you get? I mean were they scraper sites that merely copied the press release or did they actually read and link to you?

    Thanks!!!

I used free-press-release.com last month for $30 and received about 100 unique visitors to my site from the release. I've also had about that many visitors from my releases at onlineprnews.com. These releases rank okay in Google but not great. PR Web is good but can be expensive.

http://www.free-press-release.com/ is a good press release company.

http://www.prweb.com/ is also good, but a bit pricey. I always try to use PRweb on important press releases though, at the $90 level.

Press Releases are always a short term investment. They show up in most places, as a result of JavaScript and RSS feeds on third-party sites. For example, several of my press releases have turned up in feeds on sites like Forbes.com and MSN.com

However, since those releases are just cycling through, they are not going to remain where they are for more than a day or so, and they will not carry much linking value.

You should never think of Press Releases as a means for building links. Ideally, they should be to attract visitors to your website.

I have had press releases, read heavily, published on a few websites, and sending a bit of traffic.

My most successful Press Release was about HDTV, and was picked up in a HDTV magazine. It did generate a lot of traffic, but no conversions for a $20 report or product sales.

Ideally, the goal with a press release is to get your press release picked up by a major newspaper or tv station.

A friend paid for offline distribution, was picked up in 6 major metropolitan newspapers and mentioned on the websites of 4 tv stations. He saw conversions in his press release. But at $300 per pop, not too many of us are going to be jumping on the offline press release distribution, unless we have a high-conversion website offering the kind of payoff we need to offset the high cost.

Thanks for everyone's input. Do you think distribution to multiples PR sites is good?

Why not, it won’t hurt but keep them unique and target different keywords.

    Thanks Brian

Free press release is good. I use their FREE feature...seems to drive traffic well enough.

I have found the best one is Webwire. It cost $20 though. Check it out if you want.
