Hey guys, I've just launched my newly designed business website and would like to get some feedback from people. I am a web designer living in England and my aim is to create attractive websites and make some money from it. I'm new to these forums but will be learning from it and hopefully will be able to give some useful advice or guides to others. Take a look at some of the sites we've done so far and give us some feedback. http://www.snapshotmedia.co.uk - This is our own site http://www.hotel53.com http://www.todbuilders.com http://www.cmbutilities.co.uk You can also view a 30 second video showcasing upcoming work by clicking on the link in my signature. Please rate and comment on my work if you have anything to say Thanks in advance
The design look clear and easy to navigate, I like the color combination... nice portfolio effect too.
I've been to Hotel 53 in York!! Amazing food there, there's some great chef The sites work well as a neat looking landing page but using flash and scripts all over the place isn't good for SEO. If you started trying to rank these sites for anything than their domain names then you may run into trouble. Steer clear from black backgrounds; they may look snazzy but it's been proven several times to have a negative effect on the visitor's mind. One more thing, make the site clear to what it is! You have to read the text to get the first clue to what the site is about, why not have a title at the top saying "York's top Hotel and Restaurant" or something? Good luck with the venture,
I agree with stuart, you must avoid using flash on your landing pages if you want to rank your site. However, the designs are fantastic.
With the Hotel site we have so far had a lot of success with Google. Try typing in Stylish Hotels or Hotels in York and you'll find it there. What about our site, the snapshot media homepage, we're aiming to get it high on Google but at present we're still learning. Anyone good with SEO, is there anything in the code that's bad for seo or anything we can do to improve it?
I'm off to York this weekend (went to Uni there doing Electronics)! You need a lot more text on your site if you want to rank for anything big on Google. The SEO from what I've seen is pretty bang on, there's not much more you can do on-site that add more content. Start a blog on the site and comment everyday, you'll soon get a steady stream of traffic (about 20 visits per day with 6 weeks work). Get some more backlinks too, hit other website development blogs and get commenting, it's worth a few targeted visits per comment plus you get a little backlink and the opportunity to network with other companies Some bigger web development companies pass on a lot of smaller work, why not do a deal with them to get their hand-me-downs? Any work too big for our design company gets passed onto a smaller one for 10% profit take
Thanks for the compliment but what are you referring to specifically? Is it the Video on our portfolio? i.e. this one
