I've heard conflicting information about this.

Two ways link exchange (say for instance site A links to site B and site B links to site A : A<---->B ), is it worth doing this to increase Google PR ?

    What's your opinion and experience?

Two way link exchanges are not natural (you're only getting a link because you gave one) and will be discounted/ignored by google. It is not a good way to build backlinks. Get one way or 3 way links.

2 way link exchange is not good. but you can build 3 way link exchange.

    3 way link exchange - Site A- > Site b -> Site C ->.

Link exchanges are so medieval. You have to earn one-way backlinks for Google to respect your site..

Nah that kind of stuff doesn't work very well anymore, unless you do a link wheel type thing.
Your Site -> Your Friends Site -> Another Friends Site -> Your Site

So everyone in the 'wheel' gets a one-way backlink to their website, but of course two-way linking still gives you the extra back links.

The easier way is to use article marketing or Ask&Answer kind of marketing. They offer you direct one way links.

I've heard both sides of the story. Maybe look up Matt Cutts' blog to see if you can find anything.

3 way links are not a good way of exchanging links. Refer to SEOmoz guidelines

google rates one way backlinks far better than reciprocal or three way. website directories are the easiest way. especially with some submitting software available now.

I believe a link is a link. Why would Google penalise a because it links to its friends site and vice versa. The only time this could cause damage/have no effect is when the site are not related in appear un-natural.

2 way exchange, also called reciprocal linking, is not great. But it is better than nothing.

It is better to do 3way or 4 way link swap. Even better is to get 1 way links. This is possible using bookmarking, profile links (both on social sites & forums) as well as the tried & true method of buying links.

    link exchange can drive traffic,
    but not Google PR.
you should do one way linking..

    True.

Google had made very clear that it hates link exchanges. But 3 way link exchange is good as the two main sites doesn't reciprocates each other.
