Actually 11,000 impressions does not mean 11,000 visitors. Some visitors may read a few posts. Some visitors may open the website, bookmark it, and return later, resulting in 2 or more impressions.
I think 11,000 impressions with 50 clicks is quite ok.
If you are talking about 11,000 unique visitors from seach engines, then it's really bad!

As the people are getting more and more net savvy click rates are coming down.Unless ofcourse they are genuinely interested in it.further the adsense users are also on the increase. Do you think any adsense user click on your ad? My experience is otherwise.

I feel the days of CPC is numbered CPA is logical and would stay like any print media advertisment. After all there is no logic in getting or making payment for simply viewing an ad ! It should be free .( Google is making many MS products free , like browser and office packages, but never the ads??)

I may sound crazy! But I feel the future would tell the truth.

I have struggled with this problem for a while now, the key here ios effective targeting, and not all advertising networks are as good with this as they may claim to be.

You will notice it when they target ads extremely well. I sometimes have days where my CTR goes over 5% and I start sweating because a CTR that high makes advertising networks alarms start ringing! Either way, might be time to start investigating other networks and seeing what they have to offer, get feedback from others about what networks will target better in your niche, etc etc

Seriously, guys. Those of you who think "1,000 impressions with 50 clicks is quite ok" should stop what you're doing and go work on your CTR. Those are awful numbers for almost any niche worth working in.

Exactly. Placement is key. If potential advertisers see that the space you are offering is of value to them, they would have no qualms delivering their targeted ads to that space as it will increase your CTR which is good for you, and extremely good for them!

i don't think i'm being pathetic dudeee!! From 12k visits it would be NORMAL to get at least 200 clicks. It is NOT normal to get only 20, do you understand what I'm talking about? or i'm so pathetic that you can't focus?

people just aren't interested in the ads or the ads are badly placed or the traffic isn't targeted, get over it.

One thing about banner blindness, I think visitor's behaviour evolves as with anything else, so must the publisher's approach. I know banner blindness doesn't affect me that much. If the ad is relevant and offer me some benefit, I would click as long as the placement is visible and blend nicely with the layout.
I think you need to put yourself in visitor's shoes for a while and see what makes you don't want to click or want to click, when you're visiting your website.

This could be part of your problem. Google images and Adsense don't mix.

You have to think about who is visiting your site and why they are visiting your site. People who are just surfing the net looking at pictures or just wasting time online are not likely to click your ads.

On the other hand, if they came to your site looking for something specific, and they see that something in one of the ads, they are much more likely to click it.

A website about ring tones that gets 1,000 impressions per day, is going to make a lot more money than a website about squirrels that get 10,000 impressions per day.

Know your niche, know your visitors - and most importantly, know your sites keywords and their values...

when you place an ad... ask yourself... wud you click on it..

just dont leave it anywhere and hope for the best.. take a trial and ask your friends to see if they could be fooled with your ad.. if they do.. then you expect something popping-in quickly... but if you get bots as traffic and impressions by crappy search engine user.. then thats not worth it.

I too have the same problem. I have one Technology site getting 1000 page views with 60-70 percent bounce rate. Most of my traffic is from google and yahoo. My CTR is always less than 1 %. Tried many placement but no luck. So I understand techie guys won't click on ads.
