    I'm in a bit of a confusion here.
    I believe the following are owned by Google :
    Orkut
    Facebook
    Youtube
    Am i right? Sorry for being a noob, a google search doesn't give out great details either.

    I guess the owner of facebook is different . But youtube and Orkut is Google but who knows they might have some stocks in it as well

    facebook is privately owned as mentioned above, google does not own it, early startup investors probably have the biggest stake in the facebook.

    If a site asks you to login using your Google account, then most probably that site is owned by Google.

    Yes they do, actually. They own 98.4% of it, and Microsoft owns the remaining 1.6%.

    Your confusion is correct all those are different from Google. All one they are different owner. In other word we can describe that they are competitor of each other.
