I get a fair share of bloggers commenting on my blog??? my question is does blog comments help promote the blog or hurt the serp or page ranks??? who nows best>>???? my blog is very unique.... gets traffic kauaimassages.com/blog
I suppose they can hurt your long term rankings if the comments link to sites Google deems inappropriate.
Congratulations, many blogs fail at getting comments so it's great that you get them Blog comments aren't bad at all, just make sure the links are marked as nofollow and ignore comments that use as username "Proxy Sites" and link to a proxy site as URL. These are just spam commenters. Approve the good comments though (normal users sharing their opinions). In the end it will all help, since it will bring extra attention to the articles which might lead into more backlinks from the visitors/commentors
thanks .... I was unsure untill now ... because the commentators do come back ... by the way do you now of a plug in that alerts commenters of new posting to the articles??? please im looking for a wp plug that allows remiders of commentors ... lol greenies .
Absolutely not. You're getting people coming back and leaving comment so that is traffic which leads to money.
Dean allow me to say thanks to your quotes ....... it aint easy having foul play indexed in the serps... I cut out all spamm any how ... using the spam captcha ...
Comments being posted on a blog definitely helps with search engine rankings because it helps add unique content that the search engines will want to come back and index often.
Hi, Comments being posted on a blog is good. It is not bad as it helps you to improve your blog status. You can rectify your mistakes and have a good and healthy content. Each time when you update your blog content it will attract visitors and increases your pagerank.
thanks ... what about a do follow forum.... is that okay to have links off of a mian site and make the forum dofollow ...????
it depends on what they post. linkbacks to other websites (dofollow links) will hurt your ranking. also if they post something inappropriate, they may filter your blog for adult content.
taminder how true is this statement here ((linkbacks to other websites (dofollow links) will hurt your ranking)) ??? can anyone attest to this???
@Aaron111 - This is common knowledge. If your site has dofollow links and they are used for bad sites, your site will suffer. That is the main reason people are so uptight about the dofollow/nofollow links nowadays.
If your blog is a Dofollow blog, it may hurt you. Otherwise, comments are really worthy because, it can be a source of content too. Above all, people measures an article by looking at the number of comments it received.
Dofollow blog comments will only get you more people commenting and it can not hurt your site if you keep moderating your comments. Just do not accept comments from people who link to bad sites. I have just made a blog post about the issue of should I have dofollow or nofollow blog comments. Hope it helps
useful comments are good. I see no difference by giving dofollow comments, since hubpages are PR6, and still allow dofollow comments. JohnChow also allow dofollow comments. Comments can add to the overall word count, and force the search engines to crawl a few times on the same blog posts. However, you have to make sure that long comments do not dilute the keyword density. You can reply to the comments using the keywords.
