    Don't they have to get regulatory approval?
    There was some news recently saying the regulatory bodies in Canada and Australia approved the deal, but the big ones are yet to come (the US, and the EU).

    I hope the deal doesn't go through. Wouldn't want to see Yahoo being powered by inferior bing.

    In a way this is good, but also slightly annoying as we'd have to start doing a lot more work in terms of SEO and PPC ads.

    Does anyone else thinks this deal would reduce competition? Microsoft might have the money, but it does not know a great deal about search. Money doesn't buy innovation and creativity.

    Looking at the past acquisitions, mergers and partnerships (Teoma & Ask, AllTheWeb & Yahoo, WiseNut & Looksmart, Overture & Yahoo), Google has only gained more market share. Teoma, AllTheWeb and WiseNut were all, arguably, almost as good as Google. But when the boys with cash took them over they became a failure.

    Is the same going to happen with Yahoo too? Sadly I think so, even though i find Yahoo search way better than Bing.

    your going to see a new platform for advertising with bing/yahoo. i look for something different. i allso look for something like adsence from bing 2011 or 2012.

    My take is that a search engine should give me good results for what I am looking for. I don't think Bing does this as great as Google. Bing has the money to invest with improvements whereas Yahoo does not have as much R&D power. It seems the move to acquire Yahoo is a move to reduce competition.

    Should make for a more compelling number 2, but if the game stays the same with onpage seo/backlinks then Google will most likely remain way ahead of the competition. Maybe in the next 15 years we will see a paradigm shift on the net along with more variations of search technologies.

    I hope it is a relationship that is 1 + 1 = >2 or they will have a tough time competing against the market leader Google who is by far the most dominant.
