    the keywords tag is the least important - the main search engines don't read it.

    Not sure why you included <title>. Though it's the most important on-page HTML/XHMTL element, it's not a meta element. If an element doesn't start with "<meta " then it's not a meta element.

    As magda said, the meta keyword element is virtually worthless. No respectable search engine uses it anymore because it has been abused so much over the years. Google completely ignores it from a ranking perspective. Though Yahoo! "claimed" they don't use it anymore at SMX a couple of months ago, Danny Sullivan proved the idiots over there still use it. LOL

    The meta description is not used at all by Google in their ranking algorithm. But it IS still very important because it can be displayed as the snippet in the SERPs... and can have an impact on click-thru-rates.

    The only other important meta element IMO is:

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

    or its applicable variation for your site.

    Just make a quick search in google, or even you have videos on YouTube, where one of the bosses of Google talks about how they don't pay any attettion at all to meta keywords.

    All you need is the title tag and desctiption meta tagf to be used in SERPs snippets.
    Regards.

    I'm agree with grangonzo, the keywords is least important for google, but you can put it for other search enginers that no have lots of reputations

    It has no real benefit from an SEO perspective other than helping clients interpret your HTML/XHTML documents properly. You can read more about it here. It's an important meta element that every page should contain regardless.

    The "keywords" meta takes so little time to add, I do add it for possible benefits from search engines other than Google.

    I agree Jim. I always include a meta keywords element regardless of how unimportant it is... more for completeness sake than expecting it to have any "real" or noticeable impact on rankings.
