Hi, I have one news portal which has more than 32000 news and same news provider provides the news to me as well as several other people throught the world. Is there any method ( whitehat technique ) to grow the traffic from google because currently the traffic is too low? I doubt that it is due to not having unique content. I have already tried a lot of directory submissions, article submissions, social bookmarking etc. etc. My site is crawled very well in google. It would be great if there is any solution. I am using wordpress for the news portal.
Then beat up your competitors and get 1st position on SERP. If else, use article re-writer or make a few changes on your duplicate content. More search in this forum will help you alot.
Based on my experience, duplicate content isn't much af an issue unless all your content is duplicate. If that's the case then simply edit some of the news stories and rewrite them as if they were your own. As for getting better ranking, standard link building advice applies. There's various ways to do it and it's been discussed here a lot. Oh, and of course make sure that everything's fine with your on-site optimization.
The standard social bookmarking and directory links only go so far. Try to get links from authoritative sites. That might involve writing some personal emails, giving some authoritative site exclusive rights to some content in exchange for a link, etc. When you're at that level always be in the mindset that you want links from sites that are already ranking high for the terms you want. Even trading links is OK as long as it's done sparingly and with some of these really valuable sites you want links from. The key there is of course you don't want to trade with your direct competition.
