So WPMUdev.org are changing license for their plugins to GPL. So after you are a member you can share them with others .... for free. I like the service they had, and $250 is ok - even thought of signing up before, but paying the price of $419 a year, while the plugins can be distributed later freely, seems a little bit strange. Why do you think they done that? Why change the license? Any want want to share your views on that? Is it something about that WP is GPL?
Who cares why they do it! I don't! So anyone up for sharing them instead of your views? I can contribute with $20 for the job of downloading all of them and put them in a zip-package? It's GPL.
Well Bestofme - that is what is in some way concerning me. Some will pay the $419 for some plugins, while other, like you, will try to get them for $20 is a fully legal way, since it is GPL.
Distribution. By increasing distribution your client base grows and then you can increase your consulting services to maintain the sites. It's all about your revenue model... if you develop just to sell then it's probably a bad thing but the big money is in support and consulting.
I know this is a few weeks old but I would like to chip in my $20 myself if there is a group buy going on. I looked at the site and saw that there is a $80/month option as well. Let's get one more person, buy a monthly subscription and share.
Actually we need to at least get a quarterly plan because they update the plugins and themes quite often and it would be more economical.
Probably not to be honest. They upgrade as WPMu get upgraded. The service really is worth it. The forums alone get more traffic than the official ones. Matt's pissed off too many people there. -drmike

( I have made previous replies due to thought that the release is an GPL licensed so that there is nothing wrong to share, But now I got the member violation notice ) I recommend the moderator of this forum to delete all my posts on this thread ( this thread only not all with forum globally) Thanking you

Managed to get in contact with someone who has access to the premium area of WPMU DEV. He's willing to make available a download link to any of the items from the premium area for $5. He put up the two plugins I needed, if you need something else just send him a message. He said he has all of the files available. His website is: zen . solitude-guild . net As for sakthig's concerns, the WPMU DEV developers can contact you all they want. The plugins are GPL and the license THEY put in each zip says as much. You are allowed to redistributed GPL code and there is nothing they can do about it...except, of course, write threatening emails.
Why would they contact you? They'll just disable his account for being an idiot and selling access to the members area.
