na... it was the politics of who actually has that revenue???? where before ICANN, (i may be wrong here with the name) verisign had the .com registry and earned all profits! ,,, to which other countries had issues,... why are we not earning when our people are spending money buying domains! to which ccTLDs were made, and each country had its own tld, ... actually makes sense,... else with domain squatters and collectors all around, there would be no names left! M.
Offcourse the price of 4.info Directories = 1.com directory people prefer cheap stuff now coz things like PR and pretty unpredictable nowadays
google penalizes info domains so it would be a wise choice to use another domain extension even the local domains but stay away from info
Because .com is more recognizable, easier to say, remember and the most prolific TLD there is outside of .net and .org Anyway, what good is a .info of the same name when someone types in the name by itself, the default in most web browsers or SE's is "name" dot COM!
You are right to ask why. The answer is that too many people have abused .info domains for a quick buck. They are spending next to nothing on the domain, hosting, software and building categories. As a result, to many are unwilling to pay the $10 bucks a year down the road when it is time to renew.
there are people who go for a vacation and live in "small" hotel rooms, then there are people who go for a vacation and live in "good" hotel rooms, both are respected accordingly! M.
If you wanted to buy an expensive watch, would you prefer to buy it from a reputable jewelry store or from a guy on the street with watches in his trench coat.
The only difference between *.info and rest is that 99% of the *.info directories will be dead in 1 year. Other than that there is no difference.
For the first year only, and they try out .info and their luck with the cheap option first, second year they pay the same and at that stage decide if they want to keep going or drop the domain and idea.
Just emphasizes the point that the people popping up directories by the hundreds do not want to spend anything on them if they are using .infos. The whole mess could be easily cleaned up by script companies no longer offering free versions of the script. If they don't want to even pay $10 for a domain they certainly would not want to buy a script. Problem solved. But certain script companies refuse to take action and instead continue to do damage to the industry.
or perhaps somebody lost his watch today !!! ... :searching for my watch ....:: , ) its all commercial interest!!! ... no freebie,... less sale...! M.
Good domain names are hard to come by if you go for .com tld and that's the reason why I have chosen .info many times over other one.
