I made millions doing it. I started back in 1997 and still own sites to this day, but are scaling my way out of it. I started learning the ropes with tgp's (thumbnail gallery posts) and mgp's ( movie gallery posts) making up advertisements etc basicallyi was an affiliate. Then in '98 or so i started my own producing my own content and put up quite a few sites. I have grossed around 80-100 million in 10 or so years . Youporn, Pornhub and Digital Millennium Copyright Act have pretty much killed off my business model. those sites post stolen videos and give them out for free and they do so under the veil of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Before the DMCA you could sue them for unauthorized use of your copy written material. Now, you have to send them a letter notifying them that you own the copyright and for them to remove it and they have to comply within 30 days. So why pay for it when you can get full length movies? If you're going to venture down that road i would suggest doing something that people cant get for free like adult type dating.

You are on the right path with some of your concerns. Honestly, you have put more thought into it that 90% of the others. That said, you still have a long way to go. Also, you are not going to win the lotto, or get rich, off of a $200.00 investment. So if that is the motivating force, you should give it up now. Good luck!
There is tons of money in porn if you have massive amounts of capital and a good niche to target. Certainly not the easiest business to get into for a newcomer.
You do not need a TON of money. But I suppose that is subjective. You do need SOME money, and more importantly, you have to be willing to do the work, and be consistent. Whether you are shooting content, or you are just an affiliate marketer in adult. A good work ethic is key. As is being creative. You simply can't follow the sheep. Most simply do not have it.
