Hi I was wondering whats the best way to market a 1 page (landing page) site that sells an ebook or other digital product online Which is the best way of getting targeted visitors I havent had much luck with SEO and I am reluctant to to invest in PPC What do you recommend Thanks
write some articles related to you ebook mini site and post it to ezinearticle and articledashboard. This will bring you a lot of traffic.
You can pretty much utilize all traffic sources that you would for any other kind of website (with a few exceptions). It might also be a good idea to look into recruiting affiliates - either by looking for affiliates actively, listing your product at Clickbank (or a similar marketplace) or doing both. Good luck with your sales!
Every time somebody comes here asking for how to market their 'make money online' ebook it makes me want to hurt them. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE, DON'T SELL A PRODUCT ABOUT IT.
What can't you do? It would be easer just to say, try it all. Write articles for the article directories. Do social bookmarking of the articles and the site. Make Videos talking about the product, and put them on YouTube. Anywhere you can have a conversation with your market is where you should be leaving quality content, and your website address. It might be Twitter, a Facebook Pages, Flickr, YouTube, Forums within your niche.... Let your imagination run wild and start creating and spreading your content.
Absolutely agree. Anyway, back to the original question: do yourself a favor and invest in PPC. If your product is good, it works (very well).
What do you do about ebook security... how do you prevent people from finding your downloading link and accessing your product?
Short answer: E-junkie. Or if $5 a month is too much to pay then you can look into self-hosted solutions. (Although, if $5 per month is too much to pay then you should actually look into switching to another line of business )
I take it that your ebook is the one in your signature, right? If so, you might want to consider investing in a bit of proofreading for your sales copy (and maybe in upgrading that sales copy overall as well) before investing into PPC etc. Just my 2 cents... Also, consider creating a squeeze page (or at least a floaty pop-over) to gather your visitors' email address so you can follow up and continue to sell to them. Good luck!
I have to second what SEOwriterplus said here. Didn't even notice your signature when looking at the thread the first time, but had a look at the sales page now and it most definitely needs some serious proofreading, as well as design updates before you put any money into promoting it.
