I find twitter practically useless in generating traffic. I dont have twitter, but I have tweetmeme buttons in my blogs. There is a blog post that have 5 tweets, and one of the persons tweeting has more than 12,000 followers. The total traffic from twitter is less than 30. I guess all those 12,000 followers just ignore the tweets.
how many people check your tweets is actually related how good your relationship with your followers. If you have build a good relationship with your followers, you can expect 50 to 60% of your followers will check your tweet. i also notice that basically people in twitter is looking for breaking news, if you tweet some breaking news, most people will click on it.
Also is that 12,000 follower guy following 12, 000 people or even more what is his ratio of follow to followers. That could be the case
I think everyone does it. But its the site where money is the meaning. People uses your intention to grow his/her world of profit.
If everyone is transmitting and nobody is listening then this will not make sense. i found my tweet are hardly readed. so i synced my forum posts with tweeter just to get some readers.
Some pople ignore spammy posts. Make your posts have content and grab the readers attention. I think it was Frank Kern who brought forward the "rubber neck effect". Noone looks at the pretty flowers as they drive along the highway but if there's a car wreck with alot of wreckage, you get everyone looking. ; )
Twitter Tweets are useful for seo because you can search queries in form of tweets. More than 20% tweets are invitation of product or asking for product makers.
That's the problem with building followers just to see a huge number. If you have 12000 "real" followers, you can expect thousands of unique visitors daily with just one tweet. Make your profile more interesting and less spammy, real followers don't come from re-follows by people you follow.
How many people? less than 1% read peoples tweet So in the end, tweeting doesn't have much use.. Although there are some who truly creates a good conversations on their twitter pages..
Tweets pop up almost every second if you follow many, and it is hard to push your tweets to be read. You really need to build a community with your followers in order to have any traffic from twitter.
The one thing everyone keeps forgetting is that it takes time! It takes time to build relationships with your twitter followers. Twitter is a two way street. If you never comment on or read anyone else's tweets, they probably won't read yours either.
Depends on relationship with followers/reputation u hold. Also the timeline is important. You may be in a different timezone from most of your followers, and they follow so many other people that all your tweets may get buried by the time they visit their twitter pages as you could have sent them when they weren't active!
I agree with that. But then you really have to have a good strategy in order to minimize the time on twitter with maximum efficiency.
Twitter isn't ideal for SEO, since it's a nofollow site, but if used properly, it can be a great marketing tool.
Twitter can help with SEO, but not with the links directly. Most twitter updates get pushed out to several other sites which haven't added the nofollow attribute.
