Hey All, Recently I have noticed that google displays search results using '>' How is this achived?? Can someone help me out into getting this for my site? Thank You.
There links to categories. Your best chance of getting them is to make sure your site has a good navigation structure. Make sure titles and navigation anchor text is consistent throughout your site. (EG: link to the widgets category with the anchor "widgets" and make the title of the page "Widgets category") If the anchor text to the widgets category is inconsistent and sometimes says "widgets" and sometimes says "gadgets" and the title of the page is "find Widgets and gadgets to download in this category" then Google will have a hard time figuring out which anchor to use in the category link and most likely will give up and not give them. (same goes for sitelinks and jump to links) IMHO Cheers James
Google has introduced breadcrumb navigation in search results. You can see more details about this the original announcement from Google about Breadcrumb They also added new features where they show location of the site e.g. Canada along with the URL for some domains
This update happened around 2 weeks ago, if you have large index and better internal link structure google crop link structure. Now google more into website IA
I am guessing that it will be an automated thing. There is nothing we can do to get it listed quickly?
Check out the site you linked to in your original post and look at how their structure is compared to yours. Notice they have a list of categories you can navigate in the sidebar? Also notice how every page title is different and describes the category? Just about every page title in your site is "Free Netbook Software Downloads » View Tag: 1234XX" and does not mention anything about the category. Now, go back and re-read what I posted before and tell me if your site is alright or not! Cheers James
Thanks for the tip but I am still confused. What you are refering too are the tags of the site which has nothing to do with categories. Check out this links : Category Link: http://www.netbookfiles.com/c/1/antivirus-44-firewall-44-security-amp-spyware/ Page Link: http://www.netbookfiles.com/2916/chromeos-cherry-04-12/ I have different titles for every page.. Correct me if I am doing something wrong.
Yes, sorry my bad, just when doing a site:netbookfiles.com search I find the first page of results have "Free Netbook Software Downloads » View Tag:" in the title. It does change later in the results. But my point remains the same... If you link to the category "Widgets" and the page title is "Widgets category" it is easy for Google's algorithm to match the terms "Widgets". But if the page title is "Free gadget site themes and downloads >> View tag: widgets", then the term "Widget" get diluted with all the other words in the title and Google's algorithm may find it harder to match the terms it needs to enable the links you want... Hope that clears it up.. On a side note... you do get them sometimes... unfortunately they do not link to your site.. they link to brothersofts site. Cheers James
I feel that over time google will crawl the architecture. My architecture seems to be very simillar, so I think we just need to wait and depending on users visits to the categories this will happen.
I am trying out different things to see which makes this happen.. Once I figure it out I will post a documentation
