Hello All, I am very excited to be a part of the forum, AdWords is truly a great tool, but i need some serious help I have been using AdWords with my company for 3 months now, I have tried a multitude of things yet I cannot effectively run a campaign..let me explain. After multiple tests and trial and error, I cannot find a successful medium. I have run campaigns for : Web Development, Web Design, Search Engine Optimization, (local versions of these, I.E. 'Boston web design services' etc) I have yet to run a campaign with keywords that are not quality scores 1-4 !! I just setup a brand new one for "custom web development", I have the term used in my title, my copy, Landing Page : It is in my title, my H1 tags, my copy and I have a conversion form on-page with a quick loading time. This is just one example that I am recieving "poor" keyword relevancy with a "2" Quality score..at a CPC of $2.50!! I even have "local internet marketing" at a CPC of $5! with a quality score of "2" doing around 20 impressions a day. I don't get it! These are examples of what has been happening, and this is for ALL keywords. My budget is setup at $1,000 total a day and im only getting impressions / clicks for around $20 per day. HELP!!!
You mention a few different things here, I assume your main business is web design services, some SEO too. This is a competitive area. However, QS is strongly influenced by CTR, not bid as you are implying. You also seem to be focusing on your landing page. Focus more on improving your ads, get that click rate up. Download my Adwords FAQ for more details on quality score.
Inevitably, I cannot attain a CTR when majority of my quality scores are 1,s and 2,s. Ive tried increasing the price to $5 per, and it still stays at 1,s and 2s, getting 0 impressions. help!
I would recommend that you check out Lucid's Adwords FAQ. You have a high daily budget, if i were you i would join PPC-Coach.com ... Will (The PPC-Coach) as well as his team are fantastic teachers and will show you more than just setting up a campaign for your current business, they will allow you to diversify into other fields. It costs just $49.99CAD per month, to me thats nothing and i don't have your daily budget (yet) It's your choice, just decide if you are serious about delivering traffic via adwords or not.
It's not just about your landing page. Believe it or not, it can be about your ACCOUNT HISTORY! Google is mad sometimes. It can also be about your actual ads. They need to be relevant. Make sure your keyword is in your ad title, ad copy AND url. All 3 are essential for an adwords campaign if you ask me, especially if you are competing for insane keywords like the ones you listed. You can't just hike up your bid and expect google to be ok with it. Think about it, google has 1000s of companies competing for those keywords and they want all of them to be highly relevant when the customer clicks else they won't go back to google to buy anymore. Trying to wiggle your way into that market is no piece of cake. I would suggest building up your account in a different niche and then returning, using the suggestions I gave. Or try some long tail first, get creative - plenty available in that niche. Also, really make sure your landing page is optimized for PPC, which is not necessarily the same as SEO. For learning products I recommend PPC Classroom, PPC Ninja, or an oldie but goody, Perry Marshalls guide to Google adwords. Hope this helps.
I agree that it will take a bit. Yet we have been on this for 3 months. When i say web design, and those keywords. Its not those specifically but its : I.E. [boston web design company] [boston web design company services] [web design services in boston] We are typically quite specific with the keywords and we have tried broad also. Yet we are getting 1,2,3 quality scores right from the beginning and it stays that way forever. If i were to run lets say. "Boston Web Design Company" I have used as much of that keywords in the: Ad Title, Copy, Landing Page Title, Landing Page H1 , and Paragraph with a Privacy policy and sitemap links. (I have even generated some dynamically to make sure that relevency in that matter wasnt the issue) Still no luck! I still believe a specific keyword like that + $5 cpc + all that relevency. Should drive my keyword relevency to good...not poor and a qual score of 1 that doesnt get displayed. Lots of help needed
> When i say web design, and those keywords. Its not those specifically but its [boston web design company] Yeah, but you are still competing against those simply using "web design company" in your target market and those advertising nationally. I would stay away from broad matches in your case. While it may not solve your problem immediately (there are no quick fixes), you need to either hire someone, or learn more with books and/or some of the sites mentioned here. Thanks Carlx. You found it useful?
I gave it a read, it is clear and answers questions many people have. It diddn't teach me anything new, but it does exactly what it says on the tin, it is a FAQ and the questions are answered effectively, i have seen more confusing, less informative information sold in ebooks here at DP, its nice to see somebody answering those questions without even requiring them to submit emails let alone asking for payment. It's a good little product and its worth a read if you have lot's of adword questions.
What if your break-through comes in 6 months when you have learnt a lot more? Don't give up. You walk in the right direction! Keep taking action and moving forward! You will get there sooner or later!
I am a well versed IT manager and have over 10 years in the field, Ive figured out all walks of life in the IT world, yet AdWords is by far the most confusing beast I have run into. I have read the entire article and yet again its alot of the existing knowledge that I have gained over the past 3 months. I have since even developed a longtail approach to this situation with no success. When I say no success, im not complaining about clicks or conversion..Im talking about flat out impressions. Im getting 0 or none. Even for my own domain, i had a quality score of a 1 or 2...thus not showing up on searches for "mydomain.com" or "my company name" I developed a quite tight campaign with exact terms and they were all quality scores "1" with 0 impressions. [php development services] [php custom web development company] Those are quite specific and getting quality scores of 1s. These are in my ads and in my landing pages. I don't get it!!
Thanks Carl. That was the intent, to provide clear answers. Also obviously, as a viral marketing tool for my services and ebook for which I charge for as I give my secrets in there. If you think the FAQ was informative, you should get the ebook. I suspect there would not be much new in it as you are a member of PPC Coach. But one reader, also a PPC Coach member, did tell me there is added information he never heard of anywhere else that really helped him. Just happy to help.
Dear friends , We are very new to google adwords . We chose a few keywords that in the search , I did not see any one in the sponsored links . My assumption was that if there is no ads there , then , a low bid will get me to the front page . Is my assumption correct ?? Well , my adds did not make it any where …, I don’t see them . So , I guessed that there must be some kind of minimum bid in order to appear in the first page . Is there a minimum bid ? What confused me even more is the fact that the analyzing of the campaign shows impressions and clicks . How can it be ? How come other people see my adds when I don’t see them even when looking for them .
