Fantastico will be behind with the latest version, its better to install wordpress and other scripts without using fantastico.

Fantastico is the easy way to install wordpress. So whatever version it may be, first install using fantastico. Then login to your wordpress and hit the upgrade button.

Hell no. Have you not seen the half dozen threads already on these forums where folks have done that and screwed up their site? Fantastico installs a modified version of the software that is set up differently than what you download from the wp.org sites.

    1) Back up your database. Do it now. Save it to your desktop. This way in case something else goes wrong, your data is safe.

    2) Get with your host. Ask them why Fantastico has been downgraded. Ask them why your wordpress install has been downgraded. Ask them why their software has opened up your site for security problems. Ask them why this was done without your permission. If you're not pissed off, you should be.

    3) Get them to resolve the issues with their CPanel/ Fantastico install. Do realize that if Fantastico has been downgraded, probably so has CPanel and maybe even the OS on the server.

    4) Do it now. I kid you not. This is a major security problem. (If anyone asks for a link to your site, this is the one time you shouldn't give it.)

Pipes is right though. Folks (and hosts) don;t realize what a major security risk Fantastico and other installers are. Takes them days to roll out new versions of their software and the software they install. With wordpress, svn is the best way to keep up to date:

    Thanks for the advise.
I think this might be problem from my webhosting provider.
If i hit "upgrade" link it will redirrect to new wordpress link that i need to download and install it manually (not like fantastico do).

It will be hard for me

Hell no. Start with my previous post where I start off with "Have you not see..." about the broken installs who do this. You need to pick a single method and stick with it. Fantastico uses a modified version of wp (actually all of the software they install) and using a different method of upgrading will break your site.

As you note, getting with your host is your first step. Find out why this was done.

    Hi,
All you need to do now is download the latest version of wordpress and upload it manually by ftp.
    Thanks
