when writing an article and choosing between a 250 word and a 500 word article does it make a difference in your seo on what the length is?
250 is too short. 300 seems to be a fairly common rate that people want around here. I personally always shoot for 500. But if I get 450+ then I'm happy. And yes, it makes a difference.
yes, makes a difference. Google looks at the ratio of text to links. The more text per link the better.
The data I have shows that article quality matters more than article length. But in a theory where two articles are written by same writer with very similar quality, article length matters. The main reason is; Longer articles have a chance of getting more "long tail" search engine traffic. Quality articles have a chance of getting more "quality backlinks". We try to focus on quality on our sites instead of length or keyword density.
It does matter. The recommendation from Hubpages is 1,500 words, and most writing sites require minimum 400 words. I also notice that my college courseworks, average 2,500 words, attract more traffic than shorter articles in hubpages. It's impossible to maintain the length for blogging, so I aim for 800 to 1,000 words.
