PR2 for long-long time

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by newprospect, Dec 1, 2009.

We have a website containing millions of free videos (www.seedic.com). We think the content is as good as what we expect. But the pr is only 2 as of present, even though we tried several ways to improve it.

Could anybody give us advice on how to improve PR? Is the link exchange the best way and how?

    Thanks a lot

Link exchange is overrated. Build quality one way links and don't bother with PR it means nothing these days...

Link exchanges with relevant sites would be your best bet, perhaps try to purchase some high pr links also as these would then be one way.

Pagerank is no indication of anything anymore, so it's almost pointless to worry about it. The site is basically a tube site with embeds from other tube sites, hardly unique or new content either so Google isn't going to see it as a high pr kinda site. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's the truth regardless.

getting PR2 is very easy. to get higher PR than what you currently have, you will need to keep building backlinks. more backlinks you have from pages with PR, higher your PR will be.

on a seperate note, i dont suggest you to focus on PR at all as the PR alone is a very small facor in search engine ranking. besides, PR dont give you any extra traffic so the mere thought of PR is nothing but waste of time

Directly, the content on your site has zero effect on your pr, google only look at links to your site to determine pr, indirectly unique content can gain more attention and links which will then increase your pr.

I recommend article marketing via article distribution services for building links/PR.

You also must have a lot of patience. It takes a long time to see your work pay off as far as PR goes.

    ---

I should also mention that I think PR is really highly overrated as something to be concerned about, unless you're selling links based on PR it's the SERPS that really matter, not the PR (and the good thing is you can often improve SERPS faster than PR.)

Thanks guys. I saw most of you agree that PR is not so important any more at this point. So, would any body advise me what's important instead, from website promotion point of view? The eventual goal is to make the site as visible as possible.

Is the traffic that good? I think if the traffic is good, then your PR wouldn't matter that much as much as site performance is concerned. But if you really like to have a high PR, then I suggest you try to get organic linkbacks from sites that would be relevant to yours and are of high PR.

Linkbuilding the wrong might just affect your PR in a negative way so just choose your sites.

it's all about search engine results! that's where your quality traffic is likely to come from.

all I'm concerned about is where my pages come up for their target keywords - not the pagerank of those pages.

i've found that the two things tend to have not much to do with each other.

A high PR will lead to heavy traffic from Google.. Is this a mis-understanding? Thanks.

On the SERP's you will notice some sites that rank higher than others have a lower PR. there examples of this. So PR is one thing among many things that matter.

I would not really worry about your PageRank, just optimise your website well for your main keywords and get good backlinks to your website. Thats all you need to worry about!

find those blogs or movie review articles and leave comments on them. that's the best one-way backlink.

You could keep exchanging links with the High PR websites as this really useful, since one way linkings are efficient, and also start doing off page activities.
