Write about stuff that interests webmasters. Most webmasters have the Alexa toolbar installed or a plugin that works through it. Write good content so you'll get more visitors, build backlinks etc. there used to be a PHP code too that showed a 'random visitor using alexa' for every visitor, even the ones that didn't had the Alexa toolbar. But I guess it's gone now
Alexa rank is a waste, only people who care about that are those looking to buy a site or business and THINK alexa ranking actually matters. I would focus on the traffic and content versus various 3rd party ranking. Back in the day there was alexa booster software titles out, they used to work wonders but not sure how they do now OR what it might do to your site rankings overall. Once you rank well in the engines your alexa rank will get better for sure so that in the end would be a better approach UNLESS you are simply trying to get it boosted to unload.
Can't agree more on this. And you will probably say this isn't true, but actually it is. A website that ranks around 100K or less will sell better/faster than a website around 13 million. It's just because of that stupid number. But it's the way it is.
Why does alexa rank matter for your site? If you sell your site any good buyer is going to want to see traffic results. You could be 50,000 on alexa but if you have 10 people a day coming to your site, your not going to get the big bucks.
