I recently started freelance writing here on DP for other forum members. So far this has proven to be quite fun and lucrative for me. I have learned alot during the short period of time that I have been writing for others.

Just wanted to take the time to thank all of the DP users that have shared information on the forum for other writers to read and learn from.

Most of you don't even know that you helped me because all I did was read a post and take your advice to heart and put it to work to make me more money. Thanks and your advice is very well appreciated.

    Keep it coming.

    Hi,

The members of DP (most anyway-95% lol) have also helped me in a lot of ways. I have received tips and other things that have changed a lot of how I view not only writing but life.

    Cheers

Well this forum is full of information that is waiting to be found. New writers should really come here and ask questions and learn the way of the world. I love it here.

I know there is a lot to learn here. Easy to loose heart because of competition but if you produce quality be confident.

Thanks to all the great posters.

Absolutely true Hersh. People offer prices which are unbelievable and the buyers too stoop to such a level that it's just like an insult to create content.

I have stumped a buyer in a thread just a few minutes back for the price he has quoted. I do not understand why people just agree for the price, no matter how low it is.

What I can not understand that I had a buyer wanting 1000 1000 word articles. He wanted to pay next to nothing for these articles. I would love to be able to discount my rate for the is big order, but to discount it down to .0025 per word is just an insult to my abilities. I had to decline the gig.

glad to see you're enjoying it. to echo gvarnorman, stick to you guns on price, if you're a quality writer and not one of these people that just churns out generic content, then people will pay you for it at a good rate too. But if you start lowering your rates to please buyers, then you diminish the quality of your work standards.
    best of luck

I So Agree with you about the price. If I decide to give someone a discount, my work tends to go down some because I don't care as much but if I charge full price, I give better work and more so if someone gives me a raise or lets me know that I am doing a great job.

Glad you are finding success here. I'm new here, but finding it very informative. I'm a writer too, and I was really getting disheartened at the low prices people ask for their writing services. I know what kind of work goes into my articles and I can't imagine doing it for that price. I actually made the mistake of feeling like I had to match those rates, did so, and then was overwhelmed with work that I should've been charging a lot more for. It really backfired.

I'm looking forward to learning more on this forum and sharing info with others as well!

I needed to hear that too. I've often found myself yoyo-ing between lowering my rates and keeping them up where they should be. You've encouraged me to stick to my guns. Thanks

I too have con considered lowering my rates to "stay competitive". Thanks to the advice from the members here, I have decided that my work is worth the price I ask.
