Expired domains - Tempted to bid

    Guys,

A .com domain has just come up for sale in one of my niches with my exact keyphrase in it - Should I be seriously thinking about bidding?

My instincts are YES but this domain is parked, has no page rank or back links so I would literally be only inheritating the actual domain name.

How do I check whether the domain has been previously blacklisted etc?

    Cheers!

    Anthony

If I can get hold of it at a reasonable price, perhaps I can target a sub-niche and use it to link back to my main website. Hmmm.

yea I would say same. Don't buy for a crazy price if it has no pagerank or backlinks

the most i would pay for that would be $15?

I second that. Go ahead and buy it but don't spend a lot on it.

    Is it worth buying it?

    • Is it to get more domains, a bigger portfolio?
    • Is it to move your current website to that one?
    • Can you earn a lot more if you do it, or not?
If it's the first one: Don't.
If it's the second one: Go for it, a 301 redirect will do fine and normally you should get back your rankings after a few days/weeks. Just make sure it's a 301 redirect and it redirects to exactly the same pages.
If it's the third one: If you can earn more, go for it. If not, don't.

    Greetz ;)

just a domian name without any site or backlinks will not benefit you in any way interms of SEO, regardless of the fact that it has your exact same keyword in it. you can get that keyword in other extensions as well most likely, or atleast adding a dash in betoween which will offer you the same SEO benefit. to benefit from it, you will need to build a site around the domain. if you intent to get teh domain to build a site and promote it, then thats different. but if you are buying it just for backlinks, then it doesn;t worth it.

regarding whether the domain was backlisted or not in the past, you gotta do a little research. search the domain name on archive.org to see if you find an archived page. also search the domain on google to see if you find any refenrece to it.

its actually your call! if you can grab it for the same price of a normal registration, then go ahead. but if you have to outbid someone, then i would think twice. only exception would be if the keyword in the domain is highly profitable

go with that because exact keyphrase in the url is having lots of importance.

If u are going to do seo with that u are going to have preference from serch engines.
