Copied article ranks above original article!

Today ezinearticles.com approved my article that was outsourced by me. As soon as it was published someone has copied it but didn’t give the required credit to source.

    The Original Article.
    http://ezinearticles.com/?All-About-the-Colombo-Stock-Market&id=3308597

    The Copied Article.
    http://investment.suite101.com/article.cfm/the_colombo_stock_exchange_in_sri_lanka

The copied article is ranked above my article in Google.com.
Is there anything I can do about this? Please be kind enough to inform me.

    Thanks,

    Chamil

First of all is there a way of confirming that the article was copied AFTER it got published on EZA?

Secondly, maybe it was already on that site and your 'outsourcing' partner copied it for you.

As an afterthought I think this could simply be the case of copying from your EZA article ( as you said) and big G choosing to visit the masquerader before the protagonist, i.e copied article before yours!:(

This article was written by getarticlesdone.com. Before they submit it I can view it in their password protected page. So until my article approved & published by EZA article there was no such article for "Colombo Stock Market" key phrase on Google.com.

contact google and report a DCMA violation. They will take action, warning the violator to take down the copied content or risk being banned from Google.

How can you say that for sure?

I checked both the links you provided.

Google cached EZA article on 23 Nov 2009 23:35:45 GMT.
And cached the 'copied' on 18 Nov 2009 08:30:21 GMT.

Google also tells me that your article appeared on EZA on 22 Nov, while there are references to that same article pointing to the other site on 13 Nov.

If I were you I'd blame my writers.

Unless things have drastically changed, Suite101 writers are not permitted to copy articles from other sources. So if you are absolutely, positively, 100% sure that yours is the original (I'd highly doubt it in a case like this though), report it to Suite101 and they can take action against the writer.

You should NOT file a DMCA notice though. Even if you're the copyright holder, you had to agree to terms the moment you submitted it to EzineArticles. There's no copyright violation. By claiming there is after the fact and trying to prevent republication, you'd probably be the one in violation of terms.

Based on the info zaggernaut provided above though, it looks like you're the one with the copy. And without that author's permission, you'd better get it pulled from EzineArticles.

Thanks for checking the cache. I don't know how to do it. If I can, I should report that individual writer (I can identify the writer only with the number given by getarticledone.com) with screen shots to article company. If your findings are correct that original writer must responsible for this.

    Thank you again.

That sucks but could it be the author sold it twice? I have just discovered a load of my articles @ ezine have been copied. I contacted the site owner in the anchor links who blamed an Indian SEO company, he did say they would get them removed.

The thing that really sucks is that with ezine you cannot put anchors throug the article. but these guys take fresh articles and put there own links through it. Now I always submit to my site first then submit to Ezine.

    Hope you get it resolved

I always submit to ezine then my site. Do I have it backwards?

They way I know my content is unique is that I write it myself.

I am pretty sure you received a copied article. Always remember to Copyscape test any article you get written. This will straightaway tell you if you're getting a copy or original. Learn this for next time.

Now, just ask the writer for a refund and point him to this thread.

    Good luck.

Thanks all the people who replied specially zaggernaut. I contacted Article Company & they accepted their mistake. They accidentally posted it to Suite101. Now it was removed from Suite101 & Ezine. I will get a fresh article.

Must-Do if you're serious about plagiarism. Copyscape cost is worth every penny.:)

I agree, Copyscape is a lifesaver.. especially when dealing with a new outsourcer.

I think what has happened here is that google has crawled the copied content and cached it before crawling the original content at ezinearticles. It is a tough area even for google to understand who published first , it ranks by how it sees and crawls and caches first.

Where I can find writers who accept payments after I receive the article? I think hard to find.

That also happens sometimes. But in this case the writing company realized their mistake as they provided the same article to two people, apparently!

The buyer has been offered a replacement article based on findings on this thread.
