I'm looking for some wisdom from people that have experience creating social apps for Facebook and the like. I have an idea for a great app that is basically a game that requires lots of friend interaction. I am an experienced Ruby/ PHP programmer but have never made any social app yet. I want to be able to reuse as much code as possible and make it right the first time. I hoping there is some kind of framework or just example app out there to get me started. I've looked at opensocial which is supposed to make a common API for facebook, orkut and several others and there is an opensocket program that is used to interact with Facebook but apparently it's only for widgets. So is Open social worth using? Is there a good place to start in creating an app? For those of you that have made one what do you wish you knew when you first started?
