DP not as active just my 2 cents

About a year ago DP was more lively I find DP is now not as active. I have read alot of comments that people are not to happy with saying DP has over done it with google ads in posts ect. And when trying to sell something now you dont have a chance because when you get a new post in your thread its not moved to the top of the list. There is to many posts that dumps it way far down the list meaning no one will get a chance to see it. I myself like DP and is going to say here. But DP has made it hard for webmasters to sell there sites, domains ect. I think if it would change back to the way it used to be I think DP will pick back up again.

Post how you feel about this!

    Just my 2 cents worth

Traffic and user activity and to diff things. There used to be like 50/100 members in the sites section now your lucky if you see 15 in there. This change has deff affected sales and member activity.

I sort of agree, but I think this has less to do with DP and more to do with the economy. People aren't willing to spend as much on sites anymore. Just my 2 cents.

I was interested in being a Premium member and changing my user name. I hate to say I just think it is a little high priced for me right now. I agree that the site should make money, and I damn sure would like to give them some, but the price is a little high. That's just an opinion. Maybe it's worth it, I don't know, but I don't think I'll be paying it any time soon.

I remember a post when they were asking if DP charged a dollar or 5 or something would you do it. I said "Hell Yeah", but not $125.00 a year. Personally I think if they lowered it more people would join and they would make a hell of a lot more money, but that is just another opinion.

And yes, I have noticed a lackluster quality to the site lately. Not as much real buying and selling seems to be taking place. Who knows what that is. Ads don't bother me, not in the least. I had my own ad up for hosting and there was a Google ad up for hosting that was way more than I charge. Still, I haven't sold anything. No big deal.

Ads in post shouldn't bother anyone, the site has to make money somehow.

I am fine with the ads i just wish they wouldnt be stuck in the middle of a thread. They should have one at the top and bottom the the post.

Ads are no big deal, everyone should be used to them on the Internet by now. This fantastic forum has probably been an albatross for years. With a gazillion members and no revenue to speak of. I don't know that as a fact, but I do know about forums and websites and most of them are not very good money makers no matter what people like to brag about.

I would love to be a contributor, I would love more to change my user name to my current brand and be a part of the revenue of this great forum. The name change I will probably do, but the Premium thing? I just can't justify it right now. I have bought more than I have sold here and it doesn't seem to me that if I paid $125.00 a year I would make it back anytime soon. I just don't have the right products, I guess. But I still dig this place, so I hang out here.

It would be cool if you could earn a premium membership as well, I think. Like starting a helpful outlet and donating some of your proceeds, or something like that. Barter for a month of say a certain type of elevated membership, that sort of thing. Like I said, I do love this forum, but I make no money here. I do what I can though, if you get my drift... ;)

    Just a thought.

Actually it has done the opposite, I have noticed more serious buyers in the B/S/T and it got rid of all the Spammy Crap.

I would rather see B/S/T be for Premium members only with Reg members only able to read threads and the price increased for premium to keep the rest of the crap out.

And you paid the $125.00? If you did that's cool, but I doubt that it would help anything if it were increased and people could only read threads. I think members that contribute to the mix should always be able to post. One liners and stupid comments being the exception of course. But pay to play? I don't know Bro, I haven't sold anything here and I own a hosting company and other stuff. The buyers are pretty scarce around here these days. I've bought more than I sold and haven't done much of either lately.

Of course this is probably a useless debate. Sorry.

I don't care about the ads, I still don't get why people complain over ads on sites. Anyone cry about commercials to the tv shows lately?

I do agree on the need to bump up threads though. Things get stuffed fast it seems.

LMAO Yeah, as matter of fact I do cry about TV ads. Seriously though, I love to watch "Sons of Anarchy" but they throw in these movie previews I could care less about constantly. Bugs me. "Sons" is one of those shows that you want to see who is gonna get their ass kicked or head shot off, and they constantly interrupt your rage!

But really, ads suck. But they are a fact of life. I have them on my site, everyone else has them on their site.

Please... Tell me what other form of revenue there is besides being an ad whore? They call them niches, and those last about a nanosecond and then they morph into bit torrents. (All by themselves too... Amazing, huh?)

Large percentage of members have gone due to the recent change in the BST section. But I have seen some old members coming back.

I haven't really noticed that much of an activity change. As for spending money for a premium membership, it's been quite worth it, the premium members look out for each other, so far I've gotten 4 free articles and a logo designed, all costing me zilch. Plus my B/S/T threads are all prominent and features, my inbox can hold more, and I'm more than happy to help Shawn make a little beer money, why not, I've made over several grand here this year alone, why not put a little back.

Dp's Alexa ranks have been rising in the last three months. Looks like it is seeing more traffic.
But I personally think now here is more spamming less quality.
You see more spammers in BST sections people jumping to thousands of posts in weeks here in underground and general chat sections.
Actually I am of the view that posts in general chat and underground should not be counted in a profile of a user. I will just name a few threads here do you see any productive work going on in these?? Users just running there post counts.;)

I believe posts in the underground subforum don't count towards post count totals.

I think the general idea of the price for a premium member is that it stays Premium. If it was lower then there would be so many premium members that it would no longer be premium , maybe Shawn should make a "I gave DP $5" user group just so people can have a bold username lol .

Im a firm believer that Premium members should be limited, Lets say that there is a 100 members that all paid $125 per year , that accounts to $12,500 Revenue.

For the site to earn $12,500 on what you propose as reasonable $5 per month ($55 per year ) then it would take 250 members to earn the same amount and at the same time devaluing the "premium members" because there are so many of them etc etc

At the end of the day its price as it should be with a good discount for taking a longer subscription term. If you was to pay monthly it would cost you $300 for the entire year so i think paying the lump sum upfront of $125 isnt too bad ?

It's the same principle as the username changes in that it's not done for the money (I dont think :p) but more to keep demand down. Anyone who has studied economics should know the famous supply/demand diagram! :D

Thats not the case at all.Everyone knows that BST section is on a decline.Ask the real sellers and buyers.I am one of them so i know about it.

Keeping BST only for premium members??huh??How about keeping it for people having more than 3k posts or 250 itraders??How will you feel then??
