So my question to you and others who think it is over oil. What are you doing to help the US to be not so dependent on oil? Are you still driving a car? And what kind is it? A hybrid, a natural gas, electric or is it a gas run car? If if is a gas run car I do believe that many of you who "cry wolf" and say it is over oil, than you are a contributer to the war.

IMHO I dont believe it is ever over the oil.

Certain people may want to theorize about it, because it is a great topic/converstation starter. War always gets peoples blood boiling. Especially if the war isnt justified in their eyes.

Atleast in the US we can state our opinion anywhere, anyplace, anytime, regardless of color, sex, religion etc without fear of extreme retaliation. Other than a good heated discussion.

    Greetings from Dar al-Harb...

I wonder if any of us "westerners" will ever get an accurate insight into what's really behind this latest onslaught of Islamic expansionism.... "fascism", "fundamentalism", or whatever we try to classify it as. I won't call it "terrorism" because terrorism is a method of conducting the asymmetrical warfare they engage in, not a belief or a basis in itself.....

I would like to understand... truly. I think it may be a complex mixture of factors and difficult to pin down. Take one part Qu'ran - mix in the duty to spread the faith, add in a desire to retake former Muslim lands (once a muslim land always a muslim land in their minds), a surge of pride following the success of driving the Soviets from Afghanistan, an offended Osama bin Laden- whose feelings were hurt when the Saudi king declined his offer of help to defend the kingdom's safety during when Saddam invaded Kuwait and turned to the Americans instead (putting non-believers on holy Islamic soil)...

Mix in a blend of Wahabbi beliefs... the number of madrassas teaching poor indigent kids the glory of becoming a holy martyr......

Iran's 20 years of pot stirring, intriques, terrorist acts, training and infiltrating neighboring lands... their push to establish a Shiite hegemony and gain access to water via control of Lebanon....

you name it... it's all just a bit much to put an easy nametag on isn't it?

    Not much of one.

    Carter goes limp on hostages.

Reagan orders strike on Hezabollah (to retalliate for the killing of marines), but his secretary representitive calls it off...Reagan forgives him, and never carries out a possibly crippling attack on the leadership.

Bush 1 half-ass attacks Iraq. Leaving it a ripe situation for Bush 2 in the future.

Clintons terrorists policy is to ingnore them away.

Actually, I always likened his policy to be: If you are a terrorist, we'll call the cops on you...

The root cause of Islamic Terrorism was the creation of a Jewish state AKA Israel in the 1940s and 50s.

seems like those countries perhaps arent jealous.. but they are poverty stricken with low education levels. Just like china some areas have a high education level but a lot of the country is left in the crapper

Agreed. I'd say it's mostly oil rich countries funding extreme teaching everywhere. It's a way for them to keep their hands clean, but keep it going. But those whom claim it's only Israel are lacking knowledge of the breadth of the conflicts world-wide or the history. I believe that it will always exist to some point.
