Hey does google update the PR of a site on a regular basis, but only shows a new update to the public every 3 months or so, is this about right?

If your PR site has change, but there are no people feel chnage their site, that is minor update. Minor update is only update PR one by one. But Mayor update is update PR for whole site in the world.

They update it whenever they want, usually once every few months.

    Yes that's right...
    Real PR is constantly updated.
Toolbar PR is updated approximately 3 or 4 times a year, Also when the Toolbar PR is updated, it may already be up to a month old.
(Toolbar PR should never be taken seriously)

    Cheers

Well, nearly everyone is interested in seeing Google updating the websites PR on a daily or weekly basis and it could be predicted that in the near future such a thing might happen, like the case about Google Dance which as you know is happening everyday nowadays.

Last year they took more than 6 months to update PR. They really don't care about updating Toolbar PR.
