Hi there, I registered with DMOZ 1 years ago and nothing was inserted into the directory.

I was wondering what the general time frame is for a listing to be posted?

Well, the sticky at the top will give you the official answer. Which in turn doesn't answer anything. (It seems Anonymously never read the sticky). It just explains why most suggested sites never get included. But there is no time frame in the sticky.

The actual time frame goes from 0 to never. Depending on who owns the site and who edits the category:

    • An editor adds his own site, in no time
    • An editor adds his friend site, in no time
    • A corrupt editor adds another's site, in no time
    • An editor likes a site, he adds it in no time
    • An editor who pays attention to suggested sites, adds a site when he founds it in the queue

Note that first four cases are about site added but not necessarily suggested. The last one talks about editors who check the queue of suggested sites. Which is said to be not ordered by date.

Talking about a time frame is not possible and useless. You have to think in chances. For a suggested site chances of being listed in less than a month are almost zero. Being listed in less than a year, there is a few chances. Being listed in less than three years is a little more possible. Being listed after four years chances are near zero again. Most probably your URL was rejected, was banned, or nobody is looking to that suggestion queue.

If you are an editor's "friend" you have good chances of getting your site listed. No matter whether you suggested it or not.

I guess the best way is to become the friend of an editor ;)

By the way, do you know who are the editors of DMOZ ? Where does DMOZ find editors?
