A funny story here about an editor asking up to $350 to be listed ASAP.

The thing was reported to DMOZ and the editor got banned.

Anyway, I'm not sure if an entry in DMOZ worth it...

I've paid nothing for 3 DMOZ entries, so no, definitely not worth it :)

I guess you're right, but you are a lucky one.
It seems to me sometime that peoples get crazy about getting listed in DMOZ, I would make better use of those bucks :)

Cant blame a guy for trying to make a buck. DMOZ wouldnt have this problem if they indexed more sites.

    Definitely not worth it.

A DMOZ link is just barely worth the few seconds it takes to fill up the submission that will rot in the queue for 2 years, or maybe 3 years by now since the queues keep getting longer.

Considering I even got (deep)link into Yahoo for free, this really looks silly. :D

Whether it's worth it or not, depends on how long you will be in there. And the way things seem to go, editors above you come in and change everything around from time to time. So you could easily pay $350 just to be removed a week later.

If this is the case majority of the people are lucky. I got my website and all the blogs listed without paying a single penny.

Only a newbie corrupt editor would send out a written request for cash. The other corrupt ones wait for you to contact them ;)

Referrals are the best way, don't just start emailing people. Expect to pay good money as well, $500+ depending on the category.

You can mention the category your site would fall in right here, and you may be surprised, that one of the DMOZ editors/ DP members will actually contact you.
