With Google changing to have Video on their search portal, I also noticed they had the RSS feed. I also noticed a possible change in the adsense account setup but it was quickly taken out. I am just wondering now if Google are considering extending their Adsense for Feeds from the Beta to be available to all publishers, or are they simply rolling it out for the big publishers to simply profit more?
They currently are profiting from less publishers - as it is currenty beta and closed to new publishers at the minute. I am thinking they may be trying new ways to push the adsense for feeds so they can possibly extend the programme... and make more... but also open up the possibilities for other publishers to get making more as well. (I was meaning the big publishers earning even more, not Google themselves)
It would have no affect on any publisher who didn't have any RSS feeds on any of their sites. In the case of bloggers, there is an option for adsense for feeds - so if you had a blog on blogspot, and several subscribed readers, it would give you a chance to improve income from adsense overall. I don't know if Google are even planning to release it to everyone, or keep it more exclusive in any way.
The change in the adsense set-up was to do with viewing ads appearing in each ad-block and nothing to do wit RSS feeds. Although to benefit frm RSS feeds using adsense, you would need to make the full text of articles available to give sufficient content to get a targeted ad.
So if i create an RSS feed, i assume this is an .xml file can the viewer view this without subscribing to it or would it have to be in html for this. Also is it possible to ad ad sense for content/search advertisements to my RSS feed (news updates/blog), or would i need to wait (if ever) for AdSense for feeds to be released?
I am not an expert on RSS feeds - and I believe that you would have to wait until adsense for feeds is made available to be able to add an adsense advert into the full-text feed. You coud still use a summary feed that would link to the full article that could then have adsense on it ... but summary feeds would not have space to hold an advert, let alone be able to target it accurately unless every feed was on a specific subject. As far as I know, if you wanted to include adsense in feeds you need to make the full text available in the feed and have the option in your adsense account.
