Should I Target One Keyword or Multiple Keywords at the same time?

I'm not sure if I should focus on ranking on as many keywords as I can, or just rank well one 1 keyword.

Well I have a keyword I'm targetting. Its "Black comedy stand up". But I'm not sure if I should target "Black stand up comedy" or "Black stand up comedians" at this point in time because those are high competition keywords. .

Use a keyword research tool to concentrate and find other keyword sets that are of less competition to aim for.

Plan it first primary keyword and secondary keyword, then check it in keyword tool, searches and competition, then start on working less competition keyword first and then competitive keyword.

Well, it depends on your objective. Like- if you are writing an article from the SEO point-of-view then, it should be keyword rich.

use Google adwords or word-tracker and find most relevant keyword for your content/site; which has high search volume and less competitions.
you can target 3 to 5 keywords as per your need.

Find the right keyword and then focus on that, one keyword per page is law.

Ok, now maybe I can help a little.:)
In this particular case, you will need to decide on which phrase you want. Do your keyword research and check out your competition.
    Your competition is pretty small:
25,400 for "Black stand up comedy, and 10,900 for comedians. So either one will work.

If you think about it, you really will be going after both simply because you can't talk about one without talking about the other;) I would probably check the number of searches per month and go after the one with the most searches. For example, if comedy had 5000 and comedians had 2500, then my choice would be a site optimized for comedy.

    Good luck!!

use the google keyword tool and try to find the best 5 keywords and go ahead with them.. Once you get good rankings on those keywords, you can move onto other keywords if you still want some more traffic and more sales..

Concentrating on just one keyword will restrict your traffic, hence go for more keywords!

you can target multiple keywords at the same time for different pages.

Remember the title keywords should be relevant to the text content on the page.

You can target multiple keywords for the same page. I dont think that would be a problem.

Another idea is to analyse what your competition is doing, go through their code, go through their content...see what they could do to improve...then copy all their ideas and add in your improvements. No point re inventing the wheel when it has already been done for you.

Target one set of keywords for the index page and vary it by switching the keywords around on your link submissions.

I thought of this awhile back.

How about creating your own keyword? and not focusing on what is currently searched for?

    Well, as an example:

Does "Black stand up comedy" or "Black stand up comedians" provide a well-defined information to the user?

How about using "Stand Up Comedy by Black People" ?? Maybe in future time more and more people search through this keyword.

My idea is: "Build your own. Not Compete with what is currently being searched for. "

If people aren't searching for that then who cares if your site ranks well for it? It won't bring in traffic and you're purely gambling that people will start to use the term in the future
