Google Wave is for communications. Think of email, upgraded. Google Wave is a cooler, fancier version of Gmail, in a way. "Waves" are similar to email conversation, while "Ping" is simlar to internet messaging. Other features are included, but those are the most important ones. It's similar to Gmail, Microsoft Outlook Express, Hotmail, Yahoo, also combined with something similar to MSN Messenger or Skype.

i dont know about google wave... thanks for sharing this thing.... when it will be available can you tell me...?
It's really hard to compare Google Wave to anything we know because it is quite outside our paradigm for how we think about communicating with people. It's like email, but it's not because it's a live document in which people collaborate in. Yet it's not just a Word document because it's a dynamic conversation of sorts and not a static document. Hopefully, more practical uses of it will show themselves as Wave evolves. For now, we'll just have to see. Here's a good post explaining Wave: What is Google Wave?
The video gives a decent overview but leaves out most of the details. Does anyone know if Wave lets you upload word documents or store other files for collaborators to access/modify?
Its like the netmeeting application, you can work on data and possibly do almost anything with a person on the other computer
Is there anyone that has an invite? Looks like its still in beta but I think it could be very useful once you get used to it. I signed up to be a demo user but still haven't heard anything
It depends on how appealing it is to "regular" people - that is, people who aren't internet experts who addicts. If Wave is popular, it will spread by word of mouth in real life like Facebook did. Being run by Google, a major company in the online world and real world, it will definitely be popular, but it's anyone's guess exactly how popular it will be.
Google Wave acts like a collaboration tool for me. I'm pretty sure it will revolutionize how we will interact and converse with other people online apart from the normal email and chats.
