How hard is it to outrank the following for the first page? Ezine articles Go articles forums you tube Does anyone know? I heard forums are pretty easy to beat but I don't know about the rest. Thanks,
Why don't you submit some articles to EZA, GoArticles at least and see if you can get the articles on the first page with a link back to your site.
Never had to outrank youtube. For articles its pretty easy get all your site indexed and get plenty of backlinks. For forum posts it can take more time because some forum posts have some "dated" weight from the big G it looks like. Old posts and related posts on the same topic help give some old forum posts good ranking. Same as above but double your effort and it'll take a few months.
they are quite easy to beat as mentioned before. Just get some links from relevant websites. The only reason they rank so high is not because they are on ezine but the writer of the article/video promotes it.
I don't think it's hard to beat such sites that aren't dedicated to a keyword. Google, now from what I see, places YouTube videos at the bottom of the first page.
It is easy to rank for keywords if you find article directories/youtube videos/ web 2.0 properties/ forum posts in first page. In fact you should get worried if you find a PR5+ page ( individual page rank, not main page rank) with so many backlinks to it. If you closely monitor ezinearticles, you can see that whenever an article is published in ezine, they reach Google's first page provided competition is fairly low. However, it goes down very quickly. Most of the people who submit to ezine do not spend time to promote these articles. As mentioned above, look for the PR and backlinks of first page competition. That's what you have to beat
It is pretty easy with some targeted links to your pages that you want to use it to outrank, since generally those article pages rank on the strength of their internal linking structure and not because of external links pointing to them
Not hard at all. Get links from the same sites pointing to your site. Also it helps tremendously if you have the keyword in your domain.
