Big contest here, I do pay (check my iTrader), so there is no risk in entering. Feedback will be given to all entries, and I will allow new entries for 72 hours. Here is what I need: Size: 675 pxl by 725 pxl Logo: I am going to need a logo for this which should be big and bold and say 'RCB Mag' as the major text and subtext being 'RealCollegeBasketball.com's e-Magazine'. Text to be included: I want somewhere on the cover to show some included items. Here they are: 'A Look at the Top NCAA Centers' 'Team Rankings' 'First Look into the '10 NBA Draft' then perhaps a little bit smaller is the also included: 'Highlights' 'Interviews' 'And Much More!'... Also, this is an eMagazine, so somewhere on the cover it should say 'Click to Enter' or perhaps having the bottom right corner peeled away and having it say 'Click to Enter' or something. Main design for the cover: I want John Wall to be on the cover. Don't just get a photograph though and stick it on, even I could do that! Perhaps get a photo and put on some edits giving it a real WOW factor, or perhaps even a custom vector would work. John Wall must be wearing a Kentucky jersey, and here are some pictures I found of him, to give you an idea of who he is: http://tinyurl.com/wallpics1 http://tinyurl.com/wallpics2 Code (markup): and some major text for this should be 'The Great Wall' but this should be layered, so that is subject to change. Minor text underneath should be 'John Wall for Player of the Year?' again subject to change. If the image is copyrighted (all of the images I found were from Steve Moline, even if it didnt say it), then put in the bottom corner Image Credit: [name here]. Also, for anyone who is good at vectoring, perhaps a cartoon would look awesome. If you are interested I have an idea in mind, something of John Wall wearing a Kentucky jersey and holding a basketball in like the President's office and replace the 'The Great Wall' with 'Wall for Prez!'. I am really looking for a WOW factor with this so people will buy it. Everyone will get feedback on their works. Please post here any more questions you have and with that, I say good luck all! EDIT: Other images of Wall I found: http://cdn.bleacherreport.com/images_root/images/photos/000/761/412/93287695.jpg.18756.0_feature.jpg?1259072574 http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2009/1122/ncb_g_wall_576.jpg (Both from Andy Lyons/Getty Images) Code (markup):
I love this design, this also has John Wall on the cover: This one isn't bad either: This one is a little plain, but overall, not bad:
Please note that I'm not looking for it in magazine form. I just want a 675 pxl by 725 pxl rectangle. However, looking at it as it is, I see some very positive signs coming from a first draft, and seeing some of your previous works, I know you have a lot of potential. Here is my critique: What I liked: *Great Wall cutout *Cool background *Nice bold text What can be improved: *Logo design (Keep in mind this is RCB, not RCF (RCF is a different site of mine, I have a network)) *Instead of the Click Here to Enter, I think I would prefer a peel of the bottom right corner saying 'Click to Enter'. *As mentioned, should be a rectangle, not magazine form. I will give more feedback when I see those in place. Thanks for taking on this contest, and very nice first entry
No, this is for an e-Magazine, I'm making it through Flash. Size should be: 675 pxl by 725 pxl Thanks It's definitely a big improvement. Just a few more tips: *Logo - Overall, the font isn't too bad, but I'd like to see perhaps some different fonts tried out for the magazine logo. *Can we change 'Highlights, Interviews And Much More!' to 'Also Included: Highlights, Interviews, And Much More!'. *Also, can you change 'Player of the Year Race' to 'A Look at the Top NCAA Centers'? *The Dummy text at the bottom. Please change what is there right now and insert a copyright notice towards Steven Moline for the image that you used. Also put in that RealCollegeBasketball.com and the RCB Mag are in no way affiliated with John Wall, the NCAA, or the NBA in any way. Thanks. Thanks
*Dummy text and Also Included part get cut off a little, perhaps they could be moved to the left a bit more? Also, it looks like it says John Hall in the dummy text? Should be John Wall. That's all the feedback I can really think of for now. I'll let you know if I think of any more. Thanks
They just put it in magazine form as a demo when you recieve it, it will be flat and normal like you want it.
If they are worried about me stealing it, they can watermark it, but I want it in the flat form to get me a much better feel for it.
Hi, looks like you held a bigger contest. I'll post an entry later since I'm working for another contest this moment Luckily it's a 72 hours contest so I still can make it To all contestants, this guy is trustworthy ...
those are minor adjustments and can be made in a minute, so just dont worry about moving the text here and there or spelling mistakes. Really minor tweaks each nd every thing is layered so no worries at all. Regards Sikka
Sure mate, I understand that this contest may take people some time, so I'll extend it an extra 48 hours so you and others can enter, and so the other people who did enter can make revisions. Feedback for the others: @biruhato: What I like: *Cool titles *Nice cutout What can be improved: *Not a fan of the logo, looks too cartoonish. *You did not give photo credit *It doesn't say 'The Great Wall' on it. *I prefer click to enter to be a peel. @Ward Larson (of the ones submitted this one is number 1 so far) What I like: *Love the logo - This is all I wanted for a logo, something simple like you put in. *The interlappingness - Putting Wall over the letters, it looks really cool. *Great peel effect. *Great idea with the top 'In This Issue'. What can be improved: *I said great idea with the top 'In This Issue', however, it is hard to read, perhaps a different color? *It's a little bit false advertising putting 'A Look at the Top NCAA Centers' over John Wall (since he is a point guard). Perhaps change that to 'Highlights, Interviews, and more inside' or something? *Perhaps make room somewhere on the bottom to move the Photo Credit by Steven Moline? *Entherman (sorry I don't want to end this early) What I like: *'The Great Wall' 'John Wall For Player of the Year?' looks really good. *Good positioning of Image Credit. What can be improved: *I think I would prefer the logo to be horizontal, rather than vertical. *From 'This Time Read' to 'And Much More!' looks very unprofessional that text. *Click here to enter should be a peel, IMO. @herodineshkumar Sorry, that is really not what we are looking for. So please fix those things up and then I can give more feedback
